Improving stock audio... What do you think!?
Hi!!..
Im the owner of an euro honda accord tourer, wich its the equal of the acura tsx sport wagon. In europe we have a equivalent of the ELS, but they say thats its a bose system, but as far as I have checked its a panasonic system.
First of all I thougt of changing the sub, but I had discarted that now after reading mercman posts, I dont want to add any other amp, or losing room in my trunk... Maybe a good choice would be make a close encloser with fiber glass... But can be a hell, and maybe it losses quality even that the bass its improved.
So now my project would be changing the tweeters and the woofers at the front doors.
I was thinking of this speakers wich I already have from a previous installation.
CORAL ELECTRONICS PFK 162
2-way stereo speaker kit
100 watt max power
50 watt nominal power
50÷20000 hertz range
165 mm woofer diameter
fiberglass braided tissue cone
36 mm tweeter diameter
neodymium magnet, silk dome
5000 hertz, 12 dB/oct crossover
hi-pass electronic power control
http://www.coralelectronic.com/pinif...dspeakers/1796
The tweeters are:
CORAL CT 36
210 watt peak power (Pk)
70 watt nominal power (Pn)
5 ÷ 20 Khz frequency range (BW)
90 dB sensitivity (2.83 V / 1 m)
4 ohm nominal impedance (Zn)
5 Khz cut frequency (6 dB / oct)
19 mm voice coil diameter
silk dome material
neodymium magnet material

By the way, I have checked the stock tweeter and they are 6ohm and 15watt, my Coral CT 36 will function properly!?..
Mercman, I seen in a post of yours that you already made the wooden rings for the front doors speakers, can you post a draw with the measures!?.
Every opinion is welcome!!!
Thanks in advanced...

Tweeters already changed and from my point of view it has improved a lot the sound, now the voices and the high its more silky...
An improvement I highly recommend... it only takes a few minutes...
Now, I must consider if I should changed the woofers...
Anyone knows what RMS receives the front speakers!?.

I don’t know what audio systems the Accords use but if you just changed the speakers and have lost some of your bass then I would check the wiring and make sure you didn’t cross the phase (+/-) wires.
Also check that the drivers are sealed in the doors and that there are no gaps for air leaks.

I check the wires.I cant find any problem with phase (+\-) wires or gaps for air leaks.I think it is related betweeen coaksiel spekars. The coaksiel spekers bass sound is less than factory speakers. They are giving mid sounds.I want to ask that, Did you changed all of the speakers ?, Are threre any solution to change the sub with another brand like alpine? My car has panasonic amp system but i cant find the values of rms for it.Which amp and which values of rms, the Acura uses ?Thanks for your answers.

I know you said you had the factory Panasonic amp but is it the ELS or the Premium audio system?
I’m working on a solution for the sub with the goal of keeping as much trunk space as possible and getting real tight bass. I’m not looking to make it thump.
Take a look.
