How to actually get your serial number on the 2nd gen TSX when radio code is needed.

Today was a huge waste of time. I searched this website, youtube, called 4 dealerships from which I spoke with service 7 different service techs, and I even have a case number with Acura USA (or whatever they are called). All of this, because the information just doesn't exist for 2nd gen TSX serial number information to reset the radio/ navigation code.

In the case of the 2013 Sport Wagon with tech (my car) all of the aforementioned sites, service people, youtube, etc.. have plenty of information for trying to track down a sticker or a card you hopefully kept when you purchased your vehicle. In my case, my sticker was stuck in the inside of my manual which has fallen into a black hole along with the card I was given when I bought my car.

In this situation the next step is to obtain the serial # electronically through the radio display. I was instructed several times by everyone I talked to and everything I read to hit the 1, 6 and power button to get this number. Unfortunately with my car I received S/N and 6 numbers. Unfortunately the Serial number needed at https://radio-navicode.acura.com to obtain your unlock code is 8 numerical digits.

Fortunately, I've sorted this out. What you need to do is start your car, it will prompt you for the code. Hold down the CANCEL, MAP GUIDE, and MENU buttons until it beeps and you reach the diagnosis display on your navi screen. Scroll down to Detail Information & Settings, then hit ENTER. Now scroll on over to Unit Check and hit ENTER. Once here scroll down to ECU Info and again, hit enter, then wait. After a few moments take note of the Serial No. In my case the first three letters were irrelevant, but the following 8 numbers were what I needed to enter on https://radio-navicode.acura.com under get codes and serial #.

After doing this I finally received my radio code from https://radio-navicode.acura.com. I received two different codes, but the first 5 digit code was the one that unlocked both my Nav and Radio. I'm not sure if this is exclusive to the later year 2nd gen TSX's, but I repeat, one code unlocked both. I hope this saves someone 7 hours (which is how long it took me to figure this out).

I installed my new red top optima battery and my radio locked out. I can't wait to try this out and will report back.
The serial number entered by pressing 1 and 6 was not the correct serial number attached to my vin, according to acura. Let's hope this works on my 2011 Wagon Tech.

Thank you in advance.

It's awesome that you actually searched the forum and found something that'll potentially help. More importantly, best of luck!

I was pulling my hair out with the radio serial number that wasn't working. Great job on figuring that out and many thanks, it worked perfectly.
