HDD Encoding Format

I'm the proud new owner of a 2011 TSX w/Tech. It's pretty cool learning all the tech features of the vehicle, but it is a bit daunting at the same time.

Does anyone know what the encoding format is of song files recorded from CDs to the HDD? I've looked through the manual and it doesn't seem to provide this information. I'm thinking that the Wav files from the CD are probably converted to and encoded as MP3 files at 128kpbs, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know for sure?

If it's the same rate as the TL (which I imagine that it is) it is 128 kpbs.

Sounds too good to be 128. There is very little swishing on the high end. I suppose it's possible that the codec could NOT be MP3-compatible, and therefore it's some optimized codec? I guess Acura could use anything, since it's not like you can transfer the music after it's ripped to your HDD.

Has anyone yanked the disk out of the car and just looked at the Filesystem? I'll look around for instructions on how to disassemble the dash.

I'd very much like to replace it with a 750gb... assuming they're using 2.5'' drives.

Sounds like you're volunteering. Please take lots of pics for the DIY.
