HandsFreeLink Bugged Out

So, my HandsFreeLink has always had this thing where it will randomly forget my phone. It did it 4 days ago, and ever since, it has been repeating the same exact phrase every 5 minutes when the car is on. The phrase is “Starting the pairing process from the phone is not allowed. Please use the phone setup option in the HandsFreeLink main menu” but I can’t stop it from saying that. I’m not trying to set it up from my phone, and it won’t let me set it up through the car because it says it remembers my phone, and then cancels anything I do by repeating the phrase again. Is there anything I can do for this? I can’t even listen to the regular radio because it says the phrase still.

Oh, I'm just going to say something because there is no reply. Maybe disconnect the battery. Hopefully you have the code for the car. Otherwise I would check to see where the bluetooth is located. I'm not sure if it's in the stereo or an accessory located somewhere else. Either disconnect it from the harness and reconnect it. Then replace it. Sorry for not knowing, I'm just trying to be helpful.

I've had the issue before. Delete the remembered handsfreelink device in your phone's remembered bluetooth device list, and then start the pairing all over again from the car. Worked for me on numerous Samsung phones.

Same problem

My daughter just bought a ‘12 TSX and I was trying to pair my iPhone. I got it to pair, but it kept dropping and reconnecting. So I wanted to reset the connection. But I removed the car from my phone first, and now the above mentioned “warning” is the only thing I get. I try to remove the phone from the HFL menu but it just keeps saying that warning and I’m stuck at square one.

has anyone found a solution?

I've had the exact same issue since around Jan 2025 as well and seems to be due to a bluetooth update on our phones. I have issues with both android and apple phones. I dug out my old Pixel 2 and completely turned off my new phone, and it connects to that phone automatically and works just fine the handful of times I started the car. As soon as I turn on my newer phone I get the issues, like the phone is trying to connect to anything around it. This seems like a widespread issue that I've read about with no real solution. I've just unplugged the HFL module and put a bluetooth speaker on my dash for music.
