Hey Guys,

sorry for the stupid question. I m buying used pioneer nex but I don't know how to test it with car battery without installing it. I have
please correct me If I m wrong as I don't want to fry up the unit.
1. disconnect the battery terminal from the car
2. connect black wire from stereo to negative terminal.
3. connect red&yellow wire from stereo to positive terminal

I would really appreciate if somebody could confirm that this is the right process

You don't have to disconnect the battery terminal from the car. Just connect the ground wire (black) from the pioneer nex harness to the negative terminal and then the 12v power (red) and remote wire (which is usually yellow) to the positive terminal. Would be easier if you just twist both red & yellow wires together. The head unit should turn on. If you have someone with you, you can either test some of the quick functions or implement a way that the wiring stays connected to the battery and test the functions yourself.
