Bluetooth pairing is lost
Hi all,
Ever since I purchased my 2011 Tech package TSX I have issues with the bluetooth. First if I listen to BT audio and I get a call or make a call the system would freak out and freeze all the nav/radio/control buttons and then the bluetooth pairing would be lost. Since it was under warranty from Carmax they replaced the bluetooth module I think it was replaced with a used unit since there was some marking. Today it said no bluetooth connection my phone wasn't on the list of phones but my wife's was so is it something with my phone or the unit?

Have you tried clearing the system, deleting the bluetooth profile from your phone, and redoing the pairing process?

yes I have done that couple of times. The profile would be on the phone but would lose it on the car system. My bluetooth headset and my Apple watch doesn't loose the pairing I thought it could be my phone but it seems to be just with my Car.

Are you connecting your phone to the headunit whilst connected to your apple watch and bluetooth headset?

My Apple watch always connected to my phone but the headset is never turned on in the car just outside/work or in the house. So my current setup my iPhone 7 plus with latest iOS paired with my Apple watch and my phone is paired with headhunt as well. I have noticed if I get a call or make a call bluetooth on my watch stops guessing iPhone can only take one bluetooth communication. I still don't understand why my phone gets removed from list of paired devices but my wife's doesn't on the head unit. its very random but after Carmax replaced the bluetooth module on June 8th I only lost the pairing connection June 26.
Thanks for the help on this

You are saying that the headunit "forgets" your phones bluetooth profile?

Since basic troubleshooting steps of clearing the headunit and your phone didn't work I would take it back to Carmax.
The only other thing you might try is clearing your wife's phone from the headunit and only adding yours. See if it then keeps the connection.

I guess others have issues as well but really no one stated what fixed the issue https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-...-month-828348/

Happened to me all the time on my '13 TSX. No fix. Even got Apple to replace my iPhone. Still happened.

Poorly coded software/firmware, probably. There is a TSB out for the headunit itself too.

Take it back and talk to them. If you keep going back and reproducing it they may eventually have acura do the work. I've been in a similar situation before.

You can find the service bulletins here: https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...mation-789358/
There are a few about the entertainment system. See if any apply. It usually results in replacement of a module.
Another problem could be that the phone is "too new" to be totally compatible with the factory unit. I'm not sure which bluetooth version the factory unit is, but there could potentially be some compatibility issues either intermittently or more obvious. This is just a speculation based on my experience.

http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/SB/B12-021.pdf This is my issue so is the replacement free when Acura issues a TSB? before Carmax replaced my unit I took a picture and after the replaced it I believe it was a used unit that was installed because it has a yellow marking/writing.

A TSB is not a recall and your 2011 is out of warranty, so the short answer is no - the replacement will not be free.

Just a update----
Carmax can't replicate the issue and they offered to take my car to Acura dealer. They told me they replaced the bluetooth module and it was brand new one when I took the car to them first time it happened. I took picture before and after my module was replaced and mine was dated 2/7/2011 PN/ 39770-TL2-A210-M1 1 with s/w rev:01.01.000 and the one they replaced with PN/39770-TL2-A110-M1 S/W Rev 01.03.000 dated 10/27/2013
Lets see what Acura says about the issue.
will keep you guys updated.

TSBs are instructions to dealer on how to correct issues that don't rise to the level of a recall because it doesn't affect safety. A TSB may be something as simple as "If customers complain about condensation in headlights, tell them it is normal" or may be something as intricate as the oil burning issue.
Part of the TSB is telling the dealers how to deal with costs associated with the TSB and how to deal with out of warranty cars - one reason why some TSBs are called "hidden warranties"
In general, a manufacturer will be more open to discuss cost sharing when there is a TSB in place because a TSB basically says "yep, we know we have a problem and here is how we fix it."

Agreed, but as I mentioned the repair is not likely to be free.......

Latest update I guess Acura told Carmax that my IPhone 7 plus is not compatible and not on Compatibility list... Acura suggested to replace the module but it was already replaced by Carmax. I guess I have to live with it...
my 2006 TL never had issues and my wife's 2010 Highlander doesn't have this issue so for Acura and Carmax to say that it's strange... even all the 2015-16 Acura only list IPhone 6...
i don't get why it would lose the pairing since it's Bluetooth 4.0 and it shouldn't delete the paired device.

2012 TSX Wagon here, purchased new. The bluetooth module had amnesia, and was replaced as per TSB. The forgetfulness still happens, although less frequently than before, and this is with an old iPhone 4s! We just live with it now

I like Acura/Honda but they always had some issue with the bluetooth modules.. my 2006 TL the module went bad and it was draining my car battery had to unplug the whole unit and now on my 2011 TSX at random times it loses pairing... Carmax replaced it under warranty but kept happening and they took it to Acura dealer and they came back to my iPhone 7 plus is not supported but people have/had issues with older iPhones/Androids just a BS...

I know this is an old post, but I am wondering if anyone figured it out. I have a 13 TSX wagon. I had an iphone 7 and an apple watch. Everything used to work great with the bluetooth audio. then I got an iphone 11. And it's been a disaster. It constantly drops the bluetooth connection for both audio and phonecalls. Still working it out with apple. But I have figured out that if I turn my apple watch off, then I have no issues with bluetooth. It seems there is some communication mishaps between the car, the phone, and the watch.
I bought a 25 dollar bluetooth 5.0 kit for the car to test, and it has no issues I can run all three.
I don't understand the different versions of bluetooth, and how the devices interact.

I have to day Honda/Acura Bluetooth sucks big time. My wife 2010 Highlander never has issues with any of my iPhones that my Acura TSX has. My iPhone 7 wasn't disconnecting as much as my iPhone 11 Pro max.
The amount of times bluetooth disconnects while streaming music is way too much.
