So, i finally installed my pioneer double din and everything is working BUT im getting an "AMP ERROR" after about 10 minutes of playing the radio. Tried checking my wires but was too tired. Will try again tomorrow. You guys have any ideas on what this could be? Im gonna double check on the ground wires tomorrow...

sounds like issue with the headunit, what model? have you had any power issues with the car while the unit was on? like a power surge or loss etc.

no power surge or loss. I have the pioneer avh-x5500bhs. I haven't rechecked my wiring yet. I'm thinking I have a wire that's being exposed to metal or something. Its powering up but after 5 or 10mins, I get the amp error. When I turn off the car, it powers on again. hopefully it's not the head unit:/

Is it possible to wire an aftermarket HU (like the guys have done on this thread) to the stock 10 speaker amp (i think its the els one?)?

This is VERY interesting to say the least ... I have been looking at other aftermarket HU's, but all of them have some downsides (retrofit screen, losing HVAC display etc) but this looks very interesting. I think added integration between phone and HU is the way to go too!

If you guys who have this can help me with a few Q's that will be great!

- How's the overall user experience with AppRadio3? Some say it's good, some say it sucks. How do you guys like it so far? For the record, I consider myself a gadget-addict and a geek

- To install this, I'll need the followings

1. HU (assuming it's the Pioneer AppRadio3)
2. Pioneer CD-AH200 Android interface cable kit (I have S4)
3. Samsung MHL adapter (for S4 ... )
4. Euro Accord Double DIN (something like this?)
5. PAC SWI-RC
6. Metra 70-1730 Wiring Harness for 2008+ Honda accord with factory amplifier
7. Antenna adapter like this?

Is that everything I'll need?

most definitely, most of the wiring harnesses are setup to integrate with the stock wiring. ELS is a little different though so i cant say for sure, mercman may have more information.

Metra 70-1730 doesn't work with ELS amp. ELS amp takes a +/- Front speaker signal then +/- data signal from the stock ELS head unit so any aftermarket HU won't be able to tell the ELS amp to do anything (found this out after my failed attempt). I tried and i could get only the fronts to work but couldn't modify the volume. The main harness of the 70-1730 plugs in but some wires are mismatched in location to the stock harness and the sub out of the 70-1730 doesn't fit anything...
I learnt this the hard way

Don't know whether to sell my appradio or spend even more money and get an amp and speakers and bypass everything...

depends if your speakers are aftermarket, i think if they are aftermarket you would get a bigger gain to rewire and add 4 channel amp but if everything is still pretty much stock ELS i dont see a point in adding an aftermarket HU. I only added my aftermarket HU AFTER i had already added sub, 4 chan amp with new speakers, and complete rewire from amp to speakers

I am about to install the NEX 8000 Pioneer into my 2010 TSX. I have already replaced everything else, running an MS-8 currently, but planm to rip that out and sell if anyone is interested let me know. I will post my guide when done, but going to use the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MSW for the steering wheel control. I plan on just tapping in for power and accessory. My only real concern is how will I retain the climate control settings, since that is a art of the factory stereo, does anyone have any suggestions? I will post pics when done and add them to my other thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-304/2010-tsx-aftermarket-upgrade-guide-873391/

Cheers

Were either of you guys able to relocate the digital hvac display to the stock NAV screen after putting in the aftermarket radio? I also have the ELS system and I am wondering if the hvac display can be transferred to the screen above or if it will be lost. Also, were you able to integrate your factory back up cam with the new HU?
I have all aftermarket speakers and amps, but just wondering if adding a new HU is even worth it for me when comparing the stock features I may lose, or have to "re-purchase" the aftermarket versions of those features to keep.

Question for you guys- I am looking to install Alpine deck into my non-tech TSX.
Contrary to Pioneer deck, Alpine deck does not have RCA cables for speakers (only reguar wires). Which metra/scosche wiring kit is required (for radio and speaker). Please advise me. Is there anything else that I need?

Thanks in advance!

Here is what Alpine W900 Wiring looks like. (See attachment)

Looks as there is a RCA Amplifier connection for Rear/ Front/Subwoofer. Is that the connection for the rear/front/subwoofer speaker connection? Any help would be appreciated!

Yes it is. U use the preouts from the alpine or any deck for that matter for the metra harness. Font / rear / and only one of the rcas for the subwoofer on the deck.

From a quick google search on that deck,
http://support.alpine-usa.com/produc...NA-W900_EN.pdf

Page 94. it shows that there is an accessory cable that plugs to the back of the deck that has the preout cables. "13, 14, and 15"

Gotcha! Thanks Danny.

I am also installing metra axxess- did you tap into wire #16 (pink) to access steering wheel:

http://contentdocs.installernet.com/...icle/10852.pdf

So to install axxess, I just need to tap to following wires: 12v, ground, and steering wheel.
Does that seem about right?

Bluetooth "pairing" flashing. Need help

I installed a Pioneer AVH-4000NEX in my 2013 TSX SE 6MT. Also added a great backup camera. It looks and works awesome. Looking forward to the Apple CarPlay soon.

I have a small problem that maybe someone here knows how to resolve.

I had my phone paired via BT to the old system. I forgot to un-pair it. Now the MID is flashing "PAIR" intermittently. Does anyone know how to stop it? I fear that I needed to un-pair phone from the old factory radio.

Is there a way to stop the "PAIR" flashing on the MID?

does your HFL button still work after putting in the new radio? press the wheel button and go through the delete a phone process. But not sure if that would work if your original radio is out.

HFL no longer works. Unfortunately, the HFL buttons are apparently only operable with the OEM radio. I could not find a workable solution/adapter to keep HFL operable.

I think you may have to reconnect the old radio then in order to delete your phone from the HFL system.

That is what I fear. My last option is to have the dealer connect up and turn it off.

Really stupid questions: Does this only occur when the phone has BT on? If so, could you try "forgetting" the car on your iPhone?

No because the HFL will keep trying to connect even if you delete it from your phone.

Thanks for the replies. I'm taking it in to the dealer later this week to have them delete my phone from the HFL system to stop the HFL "pair" display. It's less hassle than trying to reconnect the OEM radio and deleting the phone.

OKay, I think I have everything all figured out except for one thing:

Can anyone tell me which wire I can tap into to activate my backup camera automatically when in reverse?

I supposedly need to tap into reverse wire but I have no clue which one that is. I know I can tap into rear reverse bulb wire but I rather prefer to tap in the front. Picture/ wiring color will be helpful!

Thanks!

Have you tried to physically disconnect the HFL module from the car? It is located under the passenger side dash (right withn the under-dash cover).

That's what the dealer did for me. They offered to do it for free.

Nice dealer. (Then again, I have been a three car buyer for over a decade.)

shit....my PAC SWC volume down button is only working intermittently

also, I just noticed the shop I used to install the HU didn't get the rear door speakers working...I'm using the new HU amp...but should they ALL be able to be wired up? (just the fronts and lame rear deck speakers are working...-not including new sub+amp).

I dislike Pac-swi jack. They are cumbersome to install/ program and plus they have a delay when pressing the steering wheel button. Get metra axxess- much better product.

Hazzard button

I had a kenwood ddx771 stereo installed last week. Wow want a difference. I noticed my hazzard button no longer works. Is this something missed by the installer or do I loose this without the factory stereo.

Thanks for the info

Yeh dude, lol. Non-tech doesnt have rear door speakers.

As for the pac module, its never happened to me before... but i would try a reprogram to see if something got messed up before replacing it.. maybe the inline fuse blew?

I followed this guide and installed the Pioneer 8000 NEX into my TSX. It was not hard at all, I have never even pulled a dash board apart and I manged to do this in about 3 hours with breaks. The hardest part is hiding the XM and GPS antenna wires. If I can offer one tip it is that you need to pull hard on the dash board, those clips are strong and you won't break anything. I was literally pulling as hard as I could to get some pieces out of the dashboard.
