Active Sound Control or speaker issues

Bought a 2010 TSX V6 with tech package 2 months ago, traded in my beloved 2000 TL. Took the TSX back to dealer last month, they said humming sound from passenger front speaker was due to bad mic. Naturally, the car is no longer under warranty. Cost me $800. Now the driver side speaker is doing the same thing. Very loud and super annoying....hums when accelerating and while songs with a lot of base are playing on XM or the radio. Can the ASC system be disabled? What effect will this have on other components/systems? Or is it a speaker issue. The dealer said I had 5 mics in the car. Most posts on this site only reference two.

ASC is disabled if one of the doors is opened.

There are 2 mics: one on the back in the headliner, you can see it) and one in the sunglass holder/map light console. 800$ to replace a mic!?!?) - Wow

You can try opening a door to determine of the issue is due to ASC or not.

Thank you for the information. I started the car while door was open, no humming sound present. Then pressed gas pedal, no humming sound.

Closed door with engine on in idle, pressed gas, humming began. Let off the gas, returned to idle, humming stop. Then opened the door while engine was idling, slightly depressed the gas pedal, the humming sound kicked in again. When I let off the gas, and engine returned to idle, the sound disappeared. The humming is obvious to anyone sitting in the car, often times louder than the radio.

Does this sound like an ASC issue? Opening the door did not seem disable the system.

Hum - can you confirm that the humming is originating from the speakers (with radio OFF)?

Try covering the mics with some foam/masking tape to see if that changes things - Normally (from the service manual as well from personal trials), ASC is off when any of the doors is opened, so if the problem originates from the ASC, then opening a door will turn it off.

Another possibility is a problem with the ASC itself, or (a problem with the Tech speakers (2009/2010 techs had some speaker issues which were apparently due to the tech amp).

Update: The driver door speaker was the culprit. Dealer replaced it. The car is outside warranty period but they only charged me for the part, not labor.

Back to enjoying my car again :-)
Thanks for all your help. The humming sound was driving me crazy.
