2012 TSX Footwell Lighting

I recently noticed that the BLUE LED footwell lights on my 2012 TSX (Tech) are only on when the parking lights are on.

My '09 TSX was ON while driving.

Does anyone know if theres a menu setting that turns the footwell lights on?

What is the point of the blue LED footwell light then? Acura might as well have omitted it completely. Extremely disappointing.

Like I really want to see the pedals when I'm either exiting or entering the vehicle. We already have the courtesy door lights.

My 2009 and 2010 footwell lights were barely noticeable. On my 2012 they are much brighter and on when i enter exit the car when off and when lights are on at night.

I agree that they would be more useful if there was a way to enable them while driving. It would be really cool to be able to not only control the lights on/off state, but to also change color!

Yea, my buddy has them on his Lincoln MKX and there is a button to cycle through about 6 colors as well as shut them off. It does a great job of lighting up the footwells and even lights up the cup holders. It looks cool. Fail Acura lol

its not that difficult to wire them to be on all the time. its a simple power and ground hook up.

It's not that difficult for you. I wouldn't know where to start. Please elaborate on the steps involved. Thanks!

well, if you are satisfied with the bulb that is there now... all you have to do is pull down the plastic panel where the light is attached to (under the foot wells) find the lights plug and youre going to have to cut the positive wire from the plug and run that to the fuse box. make sure you use a fuse that gets voltage only when the car is on. all youre doing to redirecting one wire to the fuse box and the foot well light will always be on while the car is on.

or.....

you can do what i did,
I ran my own red led strip (from ebay) and wired it the same way (to the fuse box). I didnt use the stock light because it was to dim for my liking.

I hope i explained it correctly.
