We just purchased a 2010 TSX with Tech package, and I have been trying to use a iPod 5th Gen (first video model, 30gb) hooked to the USB port. Initally everything appeared to work fine while testing it out. However, my wife drove the car today...leaving the iPod in the center console after stopping somewhere for a couple of hours. When she restarted the car the dash displayed a connection error, and when she checked the iPod the battery was almost dead.

So, does the iPod need to be manually shut down or disconnected every time you turn off the car? I have an older iPod 4th gen in my CRV via the aux audio jack and a simple power adapter, and it auto powers off after the car is turned off for a few minutes.

Shouldn't the usb jack be charging the ipod while it's playing anyway? or is it data only with no juice?

You don't have to manually shut down your ipod when you shut your engine off. If you get a connection error try and unplug your usb cable from the tsx usb outlet and then plug it again. It should reload your ipod. I have a 5th gen ipod video in my 2010 TSX non-tech and haven't had any issues.

Thanks for your reply. I did some more testing last night and it appears that it may have been a bad iPod cable. Swapped it out and everything seems to work as expected when I turned car off and back on a few times. Connects at startup, charging begins, pause on shutoff, then into powersave...resume play on next startup, etc. I'll see how it goes over the next couple of days.
