To Wing Spoiler or to Lip Spoiler??

hey all!

I've been searching the pic threads and could not find much pics of the 2nd gen TSX with spoilers or the lips. Any members willing to post pics of theirs??

I ordered the accessory wheels and I want it to look even more sporty with a spoiler!!!

BTW THANKS EUROBRO for understanding me bailing on ya.

There are a number of photos in the forum, just go check out the photo gallery.

Kowloon has a wing spoiler:

And Derwood has a lip spoiler:

don't get me wrong, i still love my wing spoiler especially with rims and a drop. All it needs is the OEM sports body kit and i'll be happy...well for the time being lol

Don't have any pictures handy, but after seeing both at the dealership I went with the lip spoiler. I just think it makes the car look that much better

Mugen is Mugen and deserves props, those wacky Japanese styling exercises. =)

The pic above looks like one of those racecar shopping carts you find at WalMart.

(No offense to anyone that owns one...heh.) =P

The lip is more understated & I like the way the sides kinda mirror the tail light ends and deck lid edges.

for this car, lip spoiler adds a better look than a wing IMO

one of the main reasons why I got the wing spoiler was that I always wanted one on my first gen TSX, in which I had the lip spoiler.

that is basically the exact reason i want a wing spoiler!!!
cuz i had one on my old car and i am just so used to something in the back.

i guess i should see how the car looks with the wheels first before decidn which one to put on.

I just bought a new 2010 TSX with tech package. Dealer offered to throw in either a Premium sport steering wheel or a rear wing w/ led. I thought it was a no-brainer, I went with the steering wheel. Its a huge improvement over the basic steering wheel. My question though is, are rear wings on luxury cars cool or cheesy? I never see any BMWs or Benzes with rear spoilers. I had a huge wing on my old Subaru WRX STI, and always thought it was over the top. Now I am looking at my new TSX and it looks kinda naked at the back there.

I ordered my car with the full bodykit, sport grill and wing spoiler. At the time I hadn't seen the lip spoiler in real life or any photos of it that I liked.

As time went on I wasn't seeing any photos of the wing spoiler I liked any more and I was starting to only like it from certain angles. Eventually I took the spoiler off and I liked the look much better. I then saw a car similar to mine on the road with the lip spoiler and it was certain to me that I had made a mistake by going wing spoiler.

Based upon the cost of a new Honda lip spoiler here in NZ I went for an aftermarket one and I have had to put small bungs in the 3 holes that were not covered by the lip spoiler. Even with these bungs I'm over the moon about how it looks now.

It looks similar to the one posted in posted in post #2. In review it is a possibly a bit more rounded than the OEM one but I still think it looks great. Mine came from thespoilerstore from ebay.

My only concern about the lip spoiler is that I didn't know you had to drill into the trunk *inboard* of the seal in order to install it.

I would have given that additional thought had I seen it in hand before having it installed at the dealer. When mine was installed, it rained shortly afterwards and a few weeks later during another rainstorm I got water in the trunk. They did replace and reseal it under warranty and it's been fine since.

The auction I won was for a painted one and it listed the color names and codes. I just had to cut and paste the choice in the paypal part of the transaction.

Some have managed to install the aftermarket lip spoiler with mounting tape alone.

I tried but it kept sticking up a little on 1 side so I had to resort to using the mounting studs that it was supplied with. This requires 2 holes to be drilled and a somewhat fiddly nut install. Access to install the nuts requires removal of the licence plate lamp cover and the inner tail lights which is quite easy, but the access to the where the nuts go is limited.

The OEM install looks easier as it is press-on but does require 4 holes to be drilled.

for those who have the oem wing spoiler installed, do you have both brakes lights light up? or just that of the wing? if i wanted both to turn on, how would i do that? simple as plugging something back on or does it require some wiresplicing. would dealer do it?
i havent decided if i want that. but it feels odd that you can see it and that it doesnt light up. i am getting a tint but who knows when that is.
i guess id just like the option to turn it back on if i decide to

thanks

Here's the installation instruction. Looks like (near the end) you just remove the bulb from the light socket if you do not want the third brake light on, left it in and it will continue to function.

yeah that mugen MIGHT be appealing if the car had any sort of real power.. maybe.. probably not though, i'm sure in a few years though when you see a lot more of these used with 17 and 18 year olds driving our cars.
