When will the price drop?

I went in for a test drive on Saturday. I asked my salesman if they would sell below MSRP. He told me its too new and they are not dealing yet. So I asked well when can I expect a discount. Making it obvious I was not willing to pay MSRP. After a couple of minutes he gave in and said, alright between you and me it will probably be only 2 weeks. They have a lot of cars on order and initial interest is not what they would like it to be. They were hoping for the turbo also.

I was just wondering what others are being told about price and when a discount could be expected? Personally I don't think I would be interested until at least 1K off MSRP.

haha your username is ironic cause a lot of current TSX owners are going from a TSX to a G35 or G37 or even TL-type S.

When I went in on Saturday, the salesman said that the dealership would be penalized with fewer TSX shipments if they sold too many 09s at discount. To which I said to myself "ok, see you in a few months."

The person in post #10 here already got $1000 of MSRP for a lease.

Honestly, I'd wait a month or two if you don't need the car right now.

Don't believe anything a salesman will tell you!

yes, i prob would never get a discount if you had to special order an 09 TSX with the color you like with a tech package. they may even have to wait to build you one from Japan.

I can tell you for a fact that you were fed a nice big line of

Who defines "too many at a discount"?

I will consider the TSX seriously but I wll wait 4+ weeks to hear the initial buyer feedback and to get a discount.

I like the G most of the time but not all the time. The best way I can sum it up is that its easy to drive the G fast but not so easy to drive it smoothly. Mine is a 2003.5 6mt and it took a while getting use to the clutch, it has a very heavy feel. Prior the the G I had an Integra GSR and I really missed it after getting the G. The G was good for the first 2 years or so but after that the suspension just didn't seem to be as solid as it was new, going over speed bumps etc. is harsh. It took much longer with the Integra before I felt that way. Other infiniti owners have expressed that same issue with their cars. The G feels great at speed on a smooth road but the majority of my driving is not that and I find the G a bit tiring because of the heavy clutch. A few other things I don't like is the 18 mpg on avg gas milage, back seat does not flip down, bad on snow (still no AWD for the 6mt), front wheels always covered in brake dust. I find the seats uncomfortable and the driving position (location of stick too far from me, center arm rest to low, etc) never felt quite right. Overall the car just never felt as good as I expected. But to be fair the G has been reliable and the car has changed a lot since mine was made.

Do I love the new TSX? no but I do like it very much.
Likes: Very comfortable seat, great stick and clutch feel, love the steering wheel, the overall driving position and ergonomics felt so good, good mileage, better on snow, can get my bike in trunk without needing to take both wheels off.
It could use a few more hp but the engine felt pretty strong from stop and for around town type of driving felt more fun then the G. Sometimes I feel like the speed boat in the harbor going so slow with so much power but can't use it. My last ticket I turned onto a service road was not paying attention and 6 seconds later saw a cop with a laser pointed my way, looked down at the speedo and said to myself I gotta get a slower car, it was just too easy to go fast. When the motor week tv show said "The TSX requires more driving envolvment then most modern cars, and thats a good thing" it really hit home with me. I think with 1K off it will be a good value.

Dislikes: The grill is growing on me but it seemed to be a bit too cheapy plastic when I touched it. The rear shelf color does not match the black seats ( I bet that will be corrected within the year). The tires were weak taking a clover leaf at speed but thats not the cars fault.

Overall the car felt lighter and easier to drive then the G and that is to my liking right now. It so different then the G, after driving the TSX for about 30 min it was like a shock going back to the G. I put my foot on the clutch and my sneaker (tennis shoe) bent and I realized oh yeah I can't use the ball of my foot like I just did for the last 30 minutes. Then I put my arm down on the arm rest and realize how bad it was positioned, etc.

Each cars has its strengths it just depends on whats important to you.

ah, I see.
I'm getting an '08 G35 AT and it seems I won't have many of your problems.
I'll get the gas mileage reduction though.
I'm going to swap the suspension right off the bat and the interior has indeed
changed...

I own a TSX as well, so I understand your points.
Try an '08 out, I bet you'll like that even more.

When I bought my 04 the first week it came out the saleman tried to sell me a line about how all area dealers got together (There are only 9 or 10 in the Toronto area) and agreed NOT to sell the car below MSRP.

A few seconds later he made me promise I wouldn't tell and quickly took 1k off when I told him I wasn't paying MSRP.
