I thought I would post some amazing fuel economy figures from down under. 2nd gen Accord Euro 5AT. 75% highway, 25% town.
I keep a spreadsheet on fuel consumption so these figures are exact -
4756kms - 351.28 liters used = average consumption 7.39L/100km.
Paddle shifts used frequently, mainly for deceleration.

Discrepancy between MID and actual has been 1.25-2.50 mpg. MID is not accurate. Really don't have any "city" driving where I am, more rural towns. Highest octane around here is 91.

Improved Mileage MPG
After lamenting on how low my MPG was for my new car, I've just came back from a road trip so I'd like to share how my MPG has improved, with pleasant results.
My car has about 6500 miles now after the trip, still has original factory break-in oil. These are the actual calculated MPG:
Los Angeles - Las Vegas
257 miles @ 31.8 mpg (80% highway, some traffic, plenty of uphills)
Las Vegas - Salt Lake City
436 miles @ 30.5 mpg (90% highway, lots of climbing)
Salt Lake City - Provo
155 miles @ 26.6 mpg (50% around town driving, 50% highway, lots of hills, driving over 80mph at times)
Provo - Las Vegas
388 miles @ 31.4 mpg (90% highway, lots of high speed driving over 80mph)
Las Vegas - Los Angeles
260 miles @ 34 mpg (60% highway, lots of traffic, downhill driving)
Total Miles: 1496 miles
Gallons used: 48.11 gallons
Average MPG for trip: 31mpg

first trip
Drove 305 miles and put in 9.9 gallons.
30.8 mpg. MID read 30.5.
80% Hwy (1/2 of that with speed limit of 75, ran 75-80)
20% City.
REALLY tried to watch the gas mileage - never hard on the throttle.
'09 Base - 6m. 600 miles after today's trip...
LOVE this car

My MID has always been about 1.4 to 1.6 above actual. I have about 7K on the car now. Better than my toyota van, that MID is always 5 mpg too high.

not sure whats going on. only like 2k miles on the car, bf put gas in it yesterday, and apparently i only got like 15mpg. i know it was pretty much all in town driving, but that is crazy. i only got like 270 miles to the tank. i got more than that in my civic, and that car only had like a 12 gallon tank.

Just hit 8k miles and MID shows 26.7mpg. I drive about 80/20 highway/city. Had to fill up early this morning and cost me $55.80... I'm glad I don't have a V6 engine.

Can't wait to drive
I have been consistently getting 31mpg with my commute, and I thought that was pretty high, but this week I have been trying hard to hypermile. After 4 days of commute I got....
35.7 mpg!
35.7 mpg!

Good job on the 36.0 mpg! You got the best of me, I commute daily in Los Angeles, and I have to work hard to get my mileage, meaning no A/C half the time, and letting a lot of people fly by me (80mph is the norm here). 36mpg would be something I should shoot for next week but that would take extreme hypermiling in traffic. This is my best after a 5 day commute, 35.7mpg...Maybe I could skip driving to lunch to get 36mpg! Must make sacrifice...![Tongue](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

Just an update from down under. You guys will have to do the maths from liters/100km to US mpg.
To date I have traveled 28,499kms & used 2020.47 liters which gives an average of 7.09L/100km since I have owned the car.
As these pictures indicate it has a range of over 1,000kms on the hwy.
The pictures indicate 6.0L/100km, but the true figure was 6.23. Can't complain about economy like that. By the way I had the Air Con on for about 80% of that trip.

I just filled up for the second time this morning, and I am averaging around 23.5 mpg according to the MID. I would say my city/highway driving ratio is about 75/25. Also, I am coming from driving a Evo IX, so driving "with" traffic is taking some getting used to... :P
P.S. I have been running my Climate Control on Auto about 95% of the time so far.

My last tank was around 32.5 mpg with 70% highway/30% city. The MID though said 34.6 mpg.
The MID has been consistently off 1-2 mpg from fill-up to fill-up.
I run the climate control in "Auto" mode all the time, so the AC is probably running 60-70% of the time.

Ran across this site... it's cool way to keep track of mileage. http://www.fuelly.com You can easily sign up for an account (free)... record your mileage, gallons and price paid for each fill up and then it calculates the MPG (or L/km) for you, plus provides lots of other information. There are other 2009 TSX that you can compare with: http://www.fuelly.com/car/acura/tsx/2009
I just input all my fills for 2010, and shows I am getting on average 26.3MPG for the year. I think my city/hwy is 60/40 but don't keep track of that.
They have a neat badge for bulletin board signatures, but can't figure out how to add it here. Maybe in time...

oh, Only thing different is I always have one passager. I rarely drive by myself. Do you guys think with extra 120 pounds passager weight will drop my mpg?
#148
I never seen 32.5mpg on my car. I drove 70% highway/30% city as well. I always use 93 from day one. AC is on Auto mode with 70F all time. My mpg is around 25mpg, sometime 24mpg. How you guys get 32mpg with similar driving conditions? BTW, I also hardly push my car over 4000RPM. Is anything I miss it?![Annoyed](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/annoyed.gif)

To add to this...do you use the recommended 91 octane or higher?

Not sure if I do anything special, but I try to accelerate steady from stop lights and coast as much as possible (going down hills, declines, approaching stoplights, etc.). I usually keep an eye on the MID to see what my instant MPG reads and do my best to try and keep it high. Don't get me wrong, I still pass people when I need to and drive aggresive when the situation warrants.
