What 3 Changes Would You Make?
Hi Everyone,
I just wondered what anyone would change about the current TSX if they could, especially since the much requested V-6 will be coming soon? For me I would:
1. Lengthen the trunk 4 inches
2. Create more cubby space where the CD changer rests.
3. Add AWD as an option
I do love mine but, if it sounds right, maybe Acura will listen.

My changes are changes that I would assume wouldn't influence the price.
1: Obviously paintmatch the grill from the factory
2: Fog lamps able to be on with the parking lights
3: Sacrifice a few inches of trunk space in favor of more backseat room

MAJOR CHANGES:
1. PUSH START. They should've put that in the first place. Nissan Altimas have push start for crying out loud.
2. BETTER RIMS. The stock wheels look hideous.
3. Hydraulic hood openers. I don't know why this bothers me but I don't like that when you open the hood you have to put that metal stick to hold the hood open. I don't know why Acura was too lazy to put them in.

1. Push Start for sure...almost every car in its price range has it as a standard or optional feature. At the very least, the TECH package should have it!
2. Memory seat should memorize the outside mirrors. I have never had a car that only does the seats!
3. For BASE models, there should not be dummy speaker grill on the rear doors! That is just bad taste! For the TECH models, Acura/ELS should re-calibrate the system for better enjoyment for everyone in the car, not just the front passengers.

Completely remove the ELS system. or use it as options for those only buy cars based on music.
Just leave Speaker/Mp3 integration. used that cost savings in better all around cameras & blind spot montioring/push start. introduce 18inch rims of V6 in 4cylinder. why put two sizes of tires and rims in supply chain?
put sport bumpers design as standard part of car. It is cheaper to introduce those as OEM than buying and installing after market.

1. no cd changer (replace with better spot for cups
2. change where cups are now to a space big enough for a phone and only like 3-4" deep with a nice cover.
3. the whole keyless thing

1) center the rear-view camera and add some distance markers on the screen
2) make the bluetooth phone book better (ie BMW)
3) Market the V6 as 'Type S' and add aero bumpers
4) bi xenon headlights
5) smart key - push button start
6) led tail lights
7) 6 gear automatic
8) hdd navigation
9) non-XM based traffic info (ie BMW)
Ok, I couldn't stop at 3. Acura was on the cutting edge of technology back in the late 1990's / early 2000's, but has since fallen asleep.

(1) fix the damn steering so the car goes in a straight line without the driver having to constantly make corrections
(2) the sun visors should be on adjustable sliders so they block out the sun for tall drivers (like me!) who have the seats pushed back and get blinded through the side window
(3) auto-leveling xenons

Here are some minor ones (base model):
1. On the hands-free system, when the phone number is displayed, the last digit goes onto a second line. Could you not make the font a little smaller or make the display wider?
2. The fast forward button on the stereo is hideously slow. Really it's only about 3x play speed. I listen to a lot of podcasts which can be 1+ hour length, If you lose your place, you could spend your whole commute getting it back.
3. No track-skip on steering wheel. To make it worse, they put it on the passenger side of the radio.
Ok those are pretty minor. Other good ideas from this thread:
less gear noise in reverse (6-spd)
led tail lights
memory for mirror positions

Can't wait to drive
1) Hexagon shaped front grille element (like the old Euro R). Rectangular grills are weak structurally, and after 3 months they look warped to me, especially the bottom grille!
2) Front cubby holes that can actually hold something! The ones on the right and left of the steering wheel can only hold spare change, but they too small to hold a transponder keycard, etc..I end up cramming all my stuff in the cupholders
3) Better (sportier) looking rims. The standard ones are boring...I'm sure they will change by MMC
4) Need more power steering boost at low speeds/stop for ease of parking. The firmness can stay at the old rate at higher speed. Speaking of which, the steering is too sensitive off center...driving long distances isn't too relaxing!
5) Bluetooth audio sounds poor (to say the least) and mechanical, and so does XM radio. Need to improve sound quality of both.
6) I missed the old 1st gen TSX seats, they were the PERFECT size for me and feel very sporty. The new seats are too flat and wide, and made for 200+ lbs. drivers. I'm sure this was made for the average sized American..but this takes the sportiness out of the seats I feel like I'm sliding all over the places when I corner. At least make sports seats an option?
Yes, I know, there are more than 3 changes here

Re the on-center feel; once you learn the art of making very delicate steering changes I don't think you'll perceive that there is a lack of an on-center feel. I think the combination of electronic steering and a higher steering ratio together is what is throwing people off who are new to the 2G TSX.

1. Better Rims (I'm very anxious to replace mine)
2. Better Bluetooth Integration. In my fiancée's Mini you can just pick someone on your phone and push call (on the phone) and it'll pick up the Bluetooth in the car. Very convenient. It also auto-syncs the phone book (vs. TSX manual sync).
3. Keyless doors with push to start (I think this goes under the same option since they both are based on the transmitter/fob sending signal to the car).

But, yeah, Honda's BT system is pretty basic and not smooth to use. My Toyota Sienna's bluetooth with NAVI is significantly better and more intuitive.

For me the car is just about perfect. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it,but
1-Memory link to the mirrors
2-bi-xenon auto leveling headlights.
3- When listening to XM radio, have the full artist name and song title scroll across the bottom of the display.
4- This wife wants this last one. Heat the BACK of the passenger seat.

Two other changes I would suggest, 1) remove the HCMSL from the rear parcel shelf and put it either in the trunk lid, or integrated into the roof mounted shark antennae (this would be an industry first). 2) remove the wide slab wheel arches with a smoother flair to the edge of the wheel.
One thing I would never change, and that is the steering wheel, it is the perfect size, perfect thickness with the buttons are in the perfect location. I think the steering wheel is the best looking available.

Is there a special brand/style that you recommend for the 3" mirror or are they all the same? How where do they attach?

I converted my wife to use them...and now, she MUST have them on every car! I put these convex mirrors on BOTH outside mirrors. They are just so useful. I do not have to turn my head to change lanes. I also do not need the tilt-down reverse feature in some cars because the convex round mirrors allow me to see the curb also. At first, you will find them a bit arkward to use, but give it a few days and you will wonder why you never had them before! With them, there is NO BLINDSPOT at all! No need to adjust your mirrors wide.
BTW, i love the TSX outside mirrors! They are big, yet not much windnoise! They are bigger than the TL's.

WTH happened to my garage
1 - No key start - keyless whatever it's called.
2 - LED Tails
3 - Bose audio from the old RL instead of the ELS. (Yes I know all the audiophiles will say it's crap.) The Bose in my 06 Altima SE-R rocked like mad!

Even simpler...they need to calibrate it like they do with the TL ELS system. Trust me, the TL ELS system will blow away any BOSE system, even the one i tested on the '09 RL. Like an old broken record, for the life of me, i can't figure out how Acura/ELS could mess up so badly on the TSX ELS system!

I have no interest in push button start and AC seats, as I think both add cost and complexity without any significant benefit. I live in Illinois and have never used the heated seat option, so I doubt that AC seats would be useful either.
