Tuning the TSX

Tuning the TSX
Hey guys,
So I've currently got a '12 TL Tech, and the lease runs out in august. I'm thinking of buying a used 2013 TSX Tech (there's one at my dealer, 26k with 9k miles, former service loaner), since I used to drive an 09 and loved it, plus the fuel economy is better and it takes 89 octane.
My question is this: what kind of performance modifications can I do that would net me about 30-50 HP increase? I'm interested to hear what other owners have done to their vehicles.
Thanks.

there is NO tuning available for 11+
hondata skipped up over.......and went right to Civic SI/
im sure there may be stand-alone things but BIG $$$$$$$
someone tried the early PCM in the later car in Russia....i think it ran but had major lights and CEL and issues.
buy a 09-10 or wait........
i talked to owner of CorSport he said it will come but no one knows when.

Hondata Flash Pro isn't offered on 2011+ models, so a proper "tune" might be out of the question. You can still get the parts... intake, etc., but without a tune, it'll be worthless and probably do more harm than good to your performance.

so what mods can you do with a 2010 that will give you advanced performance. ?

To reiterate, I'm guessing most if not all of these parts will be compatible with 2011+ TSXs. However, you may not feel any increased performance (and possibly decreased performance from stock) if you don't tune the car after installing these mods. Tune is not available for 2011+ TSXs, so there really is not much of a point.

Quite simply, there isn't anything economical you can do to get a significant amount of additional power. Intakes do nothing and many actually decrease power, cat deletes bring little and are illegal.
The best performance increase is a driving school and that is transferable from car to car without cost.

^^ I did read the thread, but somebody asked what you can do for the 9-10.
The intake .. yeah probably does nothing.
OptimusAccord had a 200whp tune with intake and downpipe, that's why I list those things... I had also seen dyno results where the 2nd cat delete brought a few more hp.

Honestly if the TL got 31+ I'd keep it but my old TSX got like 35 highway real world. With snow tires the TL would drop to like 25 and I drive 350 miles to and from school...

350 miles in one trip or a week? That's why I didn't go for a TL. TSX is a great commuter car. You sacrifice power, but when you're not using it, it sucks to get such low MPGs.

I think you misunderstand me, I mean when I go home, I'm going 350 miles. So the extra fuel economy would be appreciated. I'd say I make that drive maybe 4-6 times per school year, lol. I live outside Boston and go to RIT.

Meh... 4-6 times a year, I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor on whether I need a car with better fuel efficiency or not. Unless I was driving something that was giving me like 10 MPG... then that's a different story.

Oh alright. I thought you lived at home or something and commuted that much in one day, hence why I thought it was so crazy lol. But yeah like xtcrince said, even though it's 4-6 times a year, that isn't all that bad then. You might get an extra 50-70 miles per tank since it's highway anyways. If you are overall unhappy with the gas mileage the TL gets you, then I'd say look into getting a TSX if you want.

xtcnrice that's a pretty good point, I'd been doing some math and I figured that with the 2-3 MPG decrease from snow tires, I'd still be getting 30ish on the TSX when I'd drop to 26 on the TL. It's not really the highway MPG that concerns me, most driving except for when I drove home is city, driving a few minutes to and from school.
Gotta weigh options I guess.

The major issue between the two cars is that one can get the hwy rating during "normal" driving with the TSX while the TL can't do that.
Don't try to talk yourself into believing that you'll get 30mpg during daily driving. With careful driving, you might slightly beat the "combined" rating in city driving. On a good day, you'll get 27mpg with the TSX while you'll be hard pressed to break 23mpg in the TL.
The bottom line is that the mpg difference won't warrant a reason to swap cars.
