Hey everyone .. I'm getting ready to store my Tsx in my garage for winter , My question is .. is it better to start it up until it hits operating temperature like once a month to prevent the seals from shrinking and drying and maybe to prevent leaks also ?!? There are a lot of mixed comment on this topic , would like an opinion !

It probably can't hurt.

I've got bikes that don't get ridden much anymore and the biggest issue I have with them is battery life. So I rotate through putting them each on a trickle charger for a week at a time. I'll start them all up every couple months and let them run for a bit until the thermostat opens.

How long is your winter?

 

It will be stored for about 5-6 months ,trickle charger on battery ,full tank of gas with gas stabilizer , fresh oil and filter , maximum air pressure in tires to prevent flat spotting

 

Starting it once a month is a really really bad idea. All the oil will drip off into the pan...you'll be dry starting it every month...and you'll be degrading the oil, as well as introducing moisture. Idling isn't particularly good for a car. For the same reason as its not recommended to let a car warm up before driving it.

Do an oil change before storage.

Park it. Don't start it unless you have to.

Leave it on a trickle charge with a battery tender than protects against overcharging and will shut off when it needs to.

 

Might even go ahead and put it on jackstands for the tires too.

 

it's a car and it meant to be driven. just take the car out once a week for 10-15 min

 

Do not drive it in the winter!!! whatever you do, don't take it out when it's cold!
