TSX Wagon Kyboshed???

Boyz and girls, I'm hearing that the wagon now won't be making it over here in North America. I'm just floating it out there for now. As always, until it's officially announced by head office, take the rumour for what it is - a rumour...although apparently came out of a dealer meeting last week.

Question is...are you pissed or are you fine with this, if the rumor is true. Personally, I was opposed to this "Sport Wagon" coming over without SH-AWD or a V6.

There has been no word that the wagon has been canned for North America...

It made an appearance at the NY Auto Show recently.

Head over to Automotive News sub-forum and do a search on it for the latest!

I don't know anything about the rumor. However, I do agree that it is a little silly to release a wagon with a V4. HoCo's decisions can be a little perplexing to infuriating.

Acura.com has it listed as a future vehicle...and yeah, it was at the NY show.

The talk about this being kyboshed just came to fruition within the last week...the NY Auto Show was what, 7 weeks ago? Yes, it's still on the "Future Vehicles" section on the website - agreed, but this won't change until officially announced anyways. Give it time guys...my sources are strong like the force!

You may have a point here Craig, the manager at my local dealer figures he may be able to sell one of those per month.

They may not bring it into Canada since the volume will be less than 300 a year, an expensive model to bring in all the way from the Land of the Rising Sun.

I find it very hard to believe Acura would take the time to bring the car to a major auotshow, update their website, send out thousands of marketing materials, then cancel the car in the next few weeks.

Because the rumour was started from a Canadian dealer meeting, this could be a Canadian-exclusive kybosh...I dunno, we'll see. What you've mentioned is exactly what I heard what talked about.

No they aren't. For example, an I6 and V6 are not synonymous, so I4 and V4 should not be as well.

I4 means Inline 4 cylinder engine, V4 means V-shaped 4 cylinder engine.

V4 is more commonly found on motorcycles as well as outboard motors. Ford and Lancia used to have them in some of their cars back in the 60's and 70's.

If I remember correctly, I think Honda (or someone) also made/makes a V5 as well (may not be a "true V5" configuration) for motorcycles.

My old Saab had a Ford V-4. Not the one used by Ford in it's cars but, so I was told, one used in tractors.

I'll be pissed if this is true (which I doubt). The wagon was on my list for replacement vehicles....

Off topic: Honda never did any V5 production. They have a long heritage of V4 bikes (interceptor etc.). It was rumored the new VFR1200 would have a V5 but it was released with a V4.

On topic: acura.com does in fact list the wagon as a future vehicle "2011 sport wagon"

I think you are not including the Honda RC211V MotoGP bike. It had a V5 engine. I guess you could say they did no commercial V5 production, but they did make a racing V5 engine.

VW and Audi also had a V5 sort of. Technically it was a VR5 similar to the VW VR6. These VR engines differ from a true V engine as there isn't 2 seperate banks of cylinders, they are all staggered in one bank. If my memory is correct it's only a 15 degree V so it's more of a staggered I5 than a true V5.

Makes sense if it's true. After all, it is the one vehicle after many years that enthusiasts actually think looks good. Can't have that in the Acura lineup now can we.

Id be ticked if this was canned. Im RIGHT in its demo and really could use this thing to haul the kiddies and a fleet of bicycles around in style. I have no use for a CUV and would rather go the wagon route.

On a side note....is Acura going to provide good trailer hitch and bike rack options for this thing or will they assume their "upscale" clientele is just going to haul those cute brown suitcases they show as cargo on the Acura website?

Too back for us Canucks, I think if they put the iDTEC diesel engine in it, they can give the Jetta wagon a run for their money. VW sells close to half of the Golf and Jetta w/ TDI in Canada than their gas counterpart.

As a salesperson selling Acura's - I don't want it either! You know why? People want AWD in a wagon. People want more power than a 4-cylinder 200HP engine (with a 5AT). Basically the dealers here in Canada told Acura not to bother without those 2 main selling points.

Next new Acura...sub-TSX to replace the CSX

Subaru does quite well selling their 170HP Outback 2.5i. Of course, it does come standard with AWD.

I loved my RSX. That car holds a special place in my heart. What's interesting is that design still looks current today when I see them on the road. Not dated at all.

Couldn't agree with you more. It is a beautiful design and it is a very special little car. I was thinking of getting a slightly used 05-06 type-s but I don't if I want a used car. Hoping they nail it with this new one.

First of all, I just bought TSX '10 in May
Secondly, I hate Wagon style
Therefore, it makes to U.S. or not, I could care less.
