Question TSX Breaks Squeaking

Hi All,

I just recently purchased a 2010 Acura TSX, it has less 30,000 miles (28,200 or so) and the brakes are really squeaking. I did read one of the previous forums from this site about squeaking brakes on Acura TSXs models and that was a class-action suit filed and settled to replace those faulty brakes or to give owners that have replaced those brakes some money back. But how do find out if car was one of those car with the faulty breaks ?? Also I have taken my car back to the dealer because of the squeaking and they released some of the break fluid and pumped the breaks and they said this should fix the problem but the squeaking is still there. I just need some idea of what to do next. The squeaking is more irritating than anything but most important I need make sure there isn't any problems with my breaks.

Ok, squeaking brakes 99% of the time is caused by two things.

1.Brakes worn down to the wear bar which will squeak pretty much when you are braking and at low speed.

2. Break dust.

Now to find out if your car was included I'd give Acura corporate a call and see if they can point you in the right direction.

And might I suggest we move this over to the correct sub forum???

Some types of squeaking brakes are due to pad formulation and/or shims (or lack thereof).

If you have the factory original pads (front), it is likely that they are the cause of the squeaking (there was TSB issued for this back in 2010, I think), with updated pad compound. Note that there have been a couple of iterations of pad formulation (different part numbers for the pads).

The class action was for the rear brakes, and not because they were squeaking: they did not last very long at all.

One cheap solution is to replace the front pads with the latest version (if you can do it yourself), making sure to use the molly grease (M-77 compound) etc. This should resolve your problem.
