Tint question fact/fiction

Installer told me the little bubbles (white color) are normal and it may take a few weeks to go away. Is this true? If not I want to drive right back there and bitch before they "forget about me".

o/t is there a "donate" option on this site, i've gotten a lot of pre/post purchase help here.. even though I just registered.

Thanks guys!

Matt

yes. true.

tinters use a water solution to adhere the tint to the window.
it can take up a few weeks to "cure" or dry
even longer if you opted for a thicker tint material.

Okay, thanks man! I was getting concerned since its not always easy to trust the guy wanting your money, no matter the line of work.

No, he didn't.. but I just learned about it after reading a few threads here. Problem is i'm not sure if its a "good idea" or actually a must-have.

It depends on the tint you chose. Some tints won't get scratched even if you have a lot of dust rubbing on it. For the most part, though, the TSX is known to need it. I think people who don't get it are the minority here (some people eventually get it after having their tint scratched and replaced).

Bubbles are normal and are just trapped water solution that didn't escape. It'll take a while before they disappear. I haven't seen bubbles on any of my cars that were tinted though, but I guess it depends on the installer's methods. It's kind of like when you install a screen protector on a pda or phone...you have to work out all of the bubbles as you apply the protector or else the bubbles get trapped there.

I just got my tint done today..there are bubbles and splotches as the tinter explained..."Just park it in the sun and you should be good in a couple days" haha...I believe I got moleskin when they removed the door panels to but I'm not sure. I got 45% which is considered very light but since my interior is black..it looks waaaaaaay darker

Tint is looking good, once it stops snowing (where the hell is Spring) i'll shoot some photos. I can also see the need for that interior LED mod, the yellow tint makes it look so Honda Civic.
