for those driving 2010's

Do you find the steering at parking lot speeds a little stiff compared to the 09's?

i've never driven an 09, but i do think its stiff and i dont really mind it at all. i also think the steering is not unresponsive as people say, but i dunno. i had a 98 accord sedan before my '10 tsx and its steering was no where near as responsive.

well I read that the 2010s had revised steering, and I guess they made it stiffer. I test drove an 09 before the 2010s came out, and it had a nice light feel. I wish they had left it alone, oh well.

but my main issue with the new electric power steering is the lack of on center feel. The wheel will not return to center sometimes when making U-turns depending on the speed of the vehicle.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I wish it felt more "spring loaded"

I haven't driven an '09 either. The 2Gs are easier to handle in the parking lot, but I do miss the "spring loaded" or stiffer feel of my '07 TSX. That said, the EPS isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I agree the lack of on-center feel and poor self-centering are the main problems with the steering on my 2010. Off-center, it has fairly high effort at parking lot speeds, which I don't mind at all. Despite the numb spot on-center, the highway tracking is actually very good. It just doesn't feel so good, but it's not nearly as bad as its reputation suggests.

I recently read Motor Trend's first drive review of the upcoming Audi A8, which also has electric steering assist. Their biggest complaint about the steering? A "gooey" spot on center and poor self-centering. So apparently Acura is not alone in this.

With the fuel savings from electric steering, it will become more common, and I expect engineers to dial in proper feel within the next few years. Apparently Acura did this with the NSX, so I wonder what's happened since then.
