Just got my 11' TSX tinted this weekend... 20% on the back windshield and back seat windows... Was little pissed b/c according to the autotint guy, he couldn't tint the back windshield, so he had made a really ugly looking hole where the brake lights are... apparently on Acuras', you can't remove the brake light, so he couldn't reach that part to smooth it out... well, I couldn't stand the hole, so I made him put a new fresh coat of film on the back windshield... but since he couldn't smooth out the back side, bubbles are super visible... thoughts?

If by factory tinted you mean at the Acura dealership, then no I did not get them factory tinted. I got them from the tint shop I posted about earlier in this thread. Probably around page 2 or 3...

thats definitely BS. I think you went to a bad tint shop...i would demand a refund if he cant fix it and make it perfect. Theres two ways to tint that spot. Some remove the brake light cover to lay the film flat. Others use something called a "bulldozer tool" which fits in between the glass and the brake light and smooths out the film:

stak im coming to your tint shop like next week or somethin when you have time. when the weather is nicer. i want either 35 all around or 20 in the back and 35 in the front. do you live in a house or an apt? if you have a house with a garage or something, we can pop off your bumper and do your lights while our cars are at the shop

Bleh. I'm busy next weekend. I got a wedding to go to so I won't be around Sat and the tint shop is closed on Sunday...

Killer no need to call...just get there before noon...they usually get busy after 12 or 1...I dropped off my car around 11 something...they were done in around an hour. (they told me 2 hours) When I went back around 1:30-1:45 there was 3 or 4 other cars outside waiting. It's cuz they do electronics and audio stuff too.

Oh Pyro, me and my friend actually figured out how to change the lowbeams...fogs are more of an issue of where to securely put the ballasts for HIDs and such. Oh and you can hit the low beams without taking off the bumper. (dunno if you know that) Don't know about the fogs as I've never tried yet but I think you get can to them from the wheel well and under the front bumper..so if we can get the car jacked up a little it should be okay.

And yes I'm still gonna go to AckTL to clear out my headlights...also want to paint match my grill but I have no idea where to do that in NYC.

I am gonna be taking a day off on June 6, dropping off my car to the dealership for a detailing they owe me so if you guys wanna wait till then I'll be down for that. I'll be in a loaner though so we'll see what I get.

35% tint all around (front/back/rear). No problem with tint behind the brake light, installer did not have to remove anything to do this. Went with Formula One Pinnacle tint.

No Tint:

i'll try to get some pics of how to do it this weekend. might forget but if anything i'll get it done over the next week...all i gotta do is take some pics and draw arrows on them to show how to do it...pretty easy actually. the passenger side you don't even need to take anything out...driver side you gotta take out the airbox but that's super easy to take out and put back. i'll try to see if its possible to do it without taking the airbox out.

I'm gonna get 3k HID fogs and thinking about switching stock low HIDs to 6k..or maybe 5k...just wanted something either pure whiter or a touch of blue...

Pyro, your link doesn't work. Oh wait I got it to work...its the other tsx forum...and yes its pretty much like that although I don't think I had to unscrew anything before turning the cover. You can access the cover on the passenger side just by looking past the washer fluid nozzle and all little towards the rear. Once I get a picture I can circle it.

yes, you can tint over the third brake light. the tool used for it is called a bulldozer, have him redo it.

edit: someone beat me to it lol but yea have the tinter redo it or get you $ back

do 35% Killer. 50% is pretty light. lol I like my 50/35 combo. But if I had to do it again I would of done ceramic tint, cuz my car is always outside in the Cali sun. But its just to damn expensive . I would of saved up though. So ya & good luck. May Tint God guide you to the path which will make you tint happy.

I prefer to have a symmetrically cut piece around the 3rd brake light.

I'm getting some tints after a FINALLY get the VIN etching on the windows.
