Steering Column Popping

Anyone else get popping when they turn left or right? I have a 2013 Acura TSX with 50k and have developed a popping noise, much like when I have the turn signal on, when I turn. I dont know how to explain it necessarily, but almost like a click, click, click... Anyone else have this issue?

But it sounds like it is coming from the inside, would that be the cv joint?

when the three or four clicks happen, are you turning??
if yes, CV joints.

the sound is coming FROM underneath you, so it could sound like its coming from the inside....

Is the pop related to the car's movement? Or the steering wheel?

CV joints click while accelrating and turning at the same time. Its a clicking related to the car's wheel (not steering wheel) rotation. The faster the wheels/tyres spin, the faster the clicking.

I have a "thunk" from my steering wheel every now and again on my 1G. I think it has to do with either the steering coupler or the tilt/telescope mechanism. It is related to steering wheel movement/rotation. It makes ONE thunk. Sometimes when going from braking to accelrating while slightly turning the wheel. Like one would do around a shallow corner.

Another rythmic clicking (several clicks) related to STEERING wheel rotation is the turn signal cancellation working normally. But your turn signal has to be on for this sound to happen.

There is a TSB for the 09-10 TSX, which you can view by visiting the 2G Garage. Might see if the problem described is what you are also experiencing.

If it happens at a standstill when turning the steering wheel, and it sounds like it's coming *from* the steering wheel, could it be the turn signal return pin dragging?

Like, uh, let's see if this describes or replicates it. Turn the steering wheel all the way left and put the turn signal on to indicate left turn (BMW owners like, dafuq?). Then hold the stalk down (indicate left) with one hand and turn the wheel back to the right. You should hear a clicking as the return pin on the steering wheel goes by the stalk, trying to return it to the neutral position.

It sounds like a faint click-click-click. But the noise only occurs as the steering wheel is being moved, not if it's being held in one position.
