You are talking about power steering. 1G model uses hydraulic power assist steering, 2G model uses Electric Power Steering (first found in the NSX during the 90's).
The two system has very different feel to it, hydraulic being more mechanical thus more direct feel to it. EPS is much more compact (rather than powering a hydraulic steering-assist pump via the engine's serpentine accessory belt, as used with the 1G TSX, in the 2G model the steering assist is via a computer-actuated electric motor .The steering boost algorithms are minutely altered for every 1 km/h (0.6 mph) change in vehicle speed).
There were complaints of vague feel in the centre for the EPS which I think was remedied by software upgrade on the 2010 model. EPS also has quicker steering ratio (14.8:1 vs. 16.0:1 as used on the previous 1G TSX.
