Hi -

I'm a new (couple days) '09 TSX owner, and have been using the USB audio function almost primarily. I've got a 2GiB memory stick connected to the USB port, filled ~90% with MP3 files and directories. The MP3 decoding appears to work well, as does the gapless playback.

However, I've noticed that within each directory, none of the tracks seem to be sorted correctly - they are listed (and play) almost at random. Most of my filenames are "nn_-_name.mp3" where nn is the track number and name is the track name. The audio system certainly doesn't sort by file name (alphabetical or ASCII-betical), it almost looks like it's sorting by file timestamp or something.

I poked around some of the playback options, and the only two knobs I found were shuffle/random and repeat, both of which were disabled. Skimming through the owner's manual didn't help, either.

Has anyone encountered this, maybe even know of a fix?

I'm hoping I'm missing something obvious...

Congratulations on your new car, Mark. I too primarily listen to music from a memory stick. I think the trick to getting your music to play in the correct order, is to make sure it was in that order when you copied the files to the stick. You might try deleting all files, ordering them correctly on your hard drive, and then recopying to the memory stick.

Also, I found a great tool for organizing my MP3 files called Tag&Rename.

Leads me to believe that it's either sorting off the file's create or modify date - interesting way of doing it. I used rsync to transfer the files, and it creates temporary files that are renamed when the file transfer is complete. Now that I'm thinking about it, this might have messed up the ordering, so I'll try a straight copy as well, and see how that works.
