so lets talk mods......

I come here for knowledge and sharing.....
so lets talk about some mods I have in the planning/aquisition stage.

__ I bought a set of 4 door entry guards. I know lighting them has been done but I am thinking of changing the look of them and THEN lighting them some.

???? any ideas or cool stuff you have seen done to them?

__I have a set of door handles that will be getting some paint over the next month.

__I need to install my downpipe and reso.

__working on projector fogs. I have some ford fusion projector fogs trying to adapt them to the ghost.

__springs need an install. will do tomorrow.

__SS brake lines need install.

__I have bought A pillars and B pillars. I am going to try and paint them first. I bought some dupli-color vinyl fabric paint in flat black. I also have some leather that matches the dash pretty close but its not perfect so lets see how the paint goes.

__I have the Ingalls camber kit if needed. I am only installing TEIN H Tech springs so its seems to be a maybe if this is needed.

__I bought all the parts to add a spare tire to the back. Stealer just called and parts are here. This needs an install.

__I have the two lower rear lamps that light up. THese need an install and configure when they come on.

I was thinking BRAKE and PARK but no blink.

?????? ANY ideas when they should be lit?

THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO DO:

find some nice tips for the exhaust. find some cheap LOL headlight and remove amber and a few other tricks.

????? would a 4 inch tip fit the bumper cutout.....I saw some decent priced.

A couple thoughts for consideration

Remember that the A pillars hide part of the side curtains so their break-away needs to remain intact. That shouldn't be a problem with paint but may be an issue if you cover them with material.

We've all been stuck behind that guy in the Jaguar/Audi/Montero/Land Rover that has his rear fogs on in clear weather. You don't want to be that guy. If you use them for rear lighting then it needs to be dimmer than taillights as to not be distracting.Brake lights make sense even though it could cause you issues with the authorities as it isn't legal.

yeah good thoughts ceb.

the pillars are actually 'covered' in a thin material now. they call it 'fleck' or something like that, it just barely goes around the edge but it DOES. if I try something like a material it shud be as thin as the fleck....same weight, etc. they do make a dark fleck.....i dont know about black.
i also bought all new pins from honda to attach them......one is a one time use as it kind of crushes.

yeah I dont want to be that guy.......

I guess it needs some testing as to the brightness. they are DUAL so maybe the dim circuit for running lights. and dont use the second circuit. I can also add a remote or a switch. I already have some waterproof connectors that could EASILY be disconnected if I have a issue.

or just wire one to a switch and call it the rear fog BUT be judicious with its use ( IF THAT's REAL)

i guess step one is try them as a park lamp first. and test the brightness for the brake.

If you can find a similar pillar at a junkyard, then you could try out Rit dye to change the color without adding any other material.

I assume that you are doing the whole headliner?

i have spare a's and b's. I got them cheap so if I ruin them its not a big deal.

and I wasnt considering the headliner at this point.

to me, the light color pillars, especially the front or A, look out of place. I think dark pillars will look better. when i drive all i see is the mismatch of where the A pillar meets the dash.......im serious.

its part experiment......like I said if it doesnt look oem professional its not going to happen. also the D pillars are hard plastic and could be color changed although I will most likely not touch them. I cant remember the C pillars.

DYE is a good idea CEB like I said i bought paint for cloth.....but dye may be better choice. going to jo-ann fabric to find out LOL

Just time how long you leave it soaking in the dye so that you can recreate the same shade. Rit should also dye the hard plastic bits - probably much more evenly than paint.

At the time of purchase I was like no big deal....AAA can pick up the slack.

Just wasn't thinking that no spare means home on truck every time.

I spent about 350 just for the interior bits and bolt to hold the wheel.

I will post picks but looks like about 20 bux worth of felt and cardboard.

Roberto! Just putting my 2 cents on the interior.. I say just bite the bullet and do all the pieces headliner included in Alcantera. There's plenty of DIYs out there for doing this so can save on labor. It's much classier and easier to clean.

I asked him about covering the roof rails with vinyl. he said NP but doesnt normally do it so told me to get the vinyl. so I bought some 3M 1080 matte black. be here tuesday. he is also going to install some bra on my rear bumper or install the one I bought from acura.
