To smoke or not to smoke.

In remembrance of 4/20 I was thinking of smoking my tail lights with this:

What do you guys think?

I vote no.

On top of the law violations I don't think it's a good look any more. 18 year old me would love it though.

if you must smoke your taillights, get the correct kind of paint.
VHT nightshade

But to be honest with you; smoking tail lights DIED in 1999.

Screw that! 12 year old here ftw.

But seriously I bought the stuff to apply to the chrome grill and handles because I hate the chrome.

Hey, whatcha doin' later??

But in all seriousness, I think the VHT Nightshades is too dark. If it was just a light smoke it could look good.

OP, what I suggest is you get smoked 3M film for your taillights, for a couple reasons:
1. it's easily removable and not permanent like the VHT stuff
2. it comes in like 3 shades of smoke. A friend of mine used the lightest shade on his all-red G35 coupe tail lights, and the tail lights ended up looking like this deep blood red. Looked fantastic.

I agree with TacoBello. If you really want to tint the tails, get a smoked 3M vinyl. At one point I really wanted to very lightly smoke the tails (like barely noticeable sort of deal). I don't really care anymore though so I just left them alone.

I love eating rice thanks!

But wasn't plasti dip originally for only dipping tools? So just maintain status quo?

But anyway like I said this was for my chrome grill and handles. I'm just having fun with it on my tails. Fyi Google pasti dip enhancers and smoke...it is being used in tails.

People all have their opinions. Post pics when done, and how you feel about them. If you like it then keep the dip on.

Well reflection in mirror shows a guy wearing a tie and dress shirt

Also not a cubicle but an office with a door but not a high rice
Also backing in his Japanese car next to his window
Not many other cars around
Neighborhood colors are kind of older

The professions that lend themselves to that usually aren't suited to doing ghetto tail light painting during non busy time

Interesting thread indeed

If you watch any of the dip your car.com guy diy's...you can touch it after like 20 minutes. You also don't want to wait too long to pull the intentional oversprayed area (looks like you taped up like a traditional paint job though).

In theory, I don't think it'll be bad, although I found that PD with the gloss enhancer didn't look great because the peel and opaque was very obvious.

Adam, I don't think you know VHT because it doesn't just go on dark, you have to do numerous light coats and have a stock red nearby to compare how dark you've actually gone because literally a very light coat on top of the first one or two can turn you from nice light smoke, to blacked out.

The other real benefit to the VHT is that if you put it on to your liking, then cover it with a few layers of clear with intention of having material to compound out to a glass (or in this case, plastic) finish. If you just compound out the VHT directly, you'll probably burn through it and show light spots and red beneath.

I'd say, do it right with a couple of light coats of the VHT, 4 or 5 light coats of clear...wait 4 or 5 days then hit with white pad and polish (not compound, actually...keep least aggressive). It'll look like the plastic is tinted and not like you put a fuzzy layer of black over them.

In addition, I agree with Majofo and poles and Justin when he says that look kinda went out of style a while ago. I personally think it detracts when you remove the contrast of the natural lines of the car and lights. That's my opinion, but then I noticed your car isn't my car.

Thanks for your respectful response. You were gentle with me!

Dude where were you 6 hours ago? You are so right, the masking was not correct for dip.
