Service recommendation for 6-Speed Transmission-Dallas
Have 125,000 miles on my 2010 TSX 6-Speed. Need some work on the transmission and would like to find an independent shop versus going to the dealers in my area?

Someone with a boosted CU2 6MT recommended me to go to Redline Performance in Arlington. I plan on going there to replace my input shaft bearing, countershaft bearing, and clutch when my clutch starts to slip. Their prices seem fair for an independent shop and they give you a estimate in PDF form so you know in writing how much it will cost.
Also, what's currently wrong with your transmission?

JT:
Thanks!
Car is at 127K with original clutch. Actually car runs fine, no issues with tranny, just thinking for the future. Just trying to decide if I should invest in new clutch and keep car or sell while it is running good.

I got quoted about $1100 (parts and labor) to replace a clutch, pressure plate, release+pilot bearing, rear main seal, and to resurface the flywheel That's a better price than the $4100 that Goodson Acura in Dallas wanted.
If I were you, I'd just save up for a clutch replacement, the peace of mind that you know your car is maintained and is running well is better than buying a used car that you don't know the maintenance history on. You have to consider the cost of a brand new car is not worth it in most cases and buying a used car that is better than your current car will cost more than a clutch replacement most likely.
If you don't mind what's your social media? I'd like to follow another CU2 6MT owner on Instagram or any other social media.

JT,
Thanks for the update... I was a long time customer of Goodson as I have owned 6 Acuras. Won't use Goodson anymore (had a lot of contacts there who are all gone), but dealer prices for clutch are painful. (got the same quote from McDavid about a year ago.) I have used Honcura in Irving, but just not sure that I would want them to do the clutch...
I have driven 6 speeds on last 3 Acuras (CL, TL and now the TSX) Was thinking about a used 6speed Accord Sport (2.0T) but they stopped making them and the used ones carry a premium.
I am not really on social media but happen to answer your questions through this forum.

If you do plan on keeping your TSX for another year or so, I would recommend installing Acuity shifter cable bushings and selector springs. It improves the shifting experience a lot and only cost $100 in parts. The bushings are easy to install yourself, all you literally need is a flatblade screwdriver and a needle nose plier.
What mods have you done so far?

JT,
Appreciate the tips
This car is all stock, but in the past have done many mods on my previous 6 Speeds:
2002 CL- 6 Speed had Comptech Headers, exhaust and suspension kit and +1 wheels and some other cosmetics (custom grill)
2006 TL 6 Speed had Comptech cat-back exhaust and suspension kit
The best part of this TSX is the fact that it was made in Japan, which is why I think it has been so reliable... Acura did replace all the pistons at about 60,000 mile under recall. Was looking for a v-6 Accord coupe with 6 speed but that is really hard to find a clean one .. Also thought about a A-Spec TLX SHAWD V-6 but just not sure that Acura is what it used to be.

Just got my clutch replaced by Ivans Performance Shop in Princeton (near Lavon Lake), they seem to know what they're doing and have better reviews than Redline Performance. It cost about $1850, less than the $4100 that Goodson Acura of Dallas wanted. Why would I pay $4100 and not even get a loaner car is baffling.
