secured etch
Hello everyone,
i just leased a 2009 tsx and i noticed on the paperwork that there is a $299 fee for something called "secured etch (optional)" which I assumed was the security deposit. my dealer now is saying that it isn't a security deposit and i am waiting for an email explaining what it is.
does anyone have any idea? is this just some sort of dealer profit fee?
thanks

Yup 100% profit in thier pocket. I believe you can get a glass etching kit for $20. Check out the article above.

Yeah when they say "it can lower your insurance rates and help police recover your car if it's stolen, and it only adds $2 to you payment" it can be hard to turn it down, so you have to be like "I know, I'm totally NUTS for saying no, but I must."

you can buy the kit online with your VIN number and do it yourself in less than 30 minutes (10 minutes if you are quick and dirty). Cost about 40 bucks shipped.

We did that for a friend it looks good. Mind you the Glass is already etched by Acura but not with the VIN.
