Searching music while on dock connector?

Alright, so my question is two-fold and I apologize in advance for asking it again, but I have yet to find an answer and I've looked all over on here.

First off, is there a way to search through your music library (iPhone 4S) while on the dock connector? I know how to get to my playlists and tracks, but there has to be a faster way to find Since I've Been Loving You, than scrolling all the way to the S's. Right? Or do I just have to switch to bluetooth each time and do it manually?

Secondly, has anyone found a fix from your phone switching from the dock connector to bluetooth after a 30 seconds? It's so annoying. I wait about 15 seconds to hook anything up and I'm fine, just curious though.

Thanks in advance and sorry - I'm new here. I have a 2009 TSX w/tech package and have been loving this forum for tidbits.

Dave

There's no way to search while you are plugged up to the ipod dock connector. I completely agree that it's very frustrating you can't search thru the phone. And having to scroll through the letters to get to S is very frustrating as well. Makes me wonder if engineers actually use the products and functionality they design.

I thought the tech pack made it easier to browse the songs, guess not. On my 2010 base TSX I just Bluetooth stream and control my music by voice from the iPhone. "play playlist ballsack" and commands such as that, worked well for me the past 2 years

this sucks...on my SE, i (or passenger) just unplug the ipod/iphone, select it manually, then reconnect.

Ha I know - it seems like the majority of the tech stuff is pretty intuitive, but the misses are big ones. That's too bad.

I appreciate the thought, but when it's plugged into the dock connector and you try to do a search, Siri doesn't work. At least not for music.

This is maddening.

Here's another question...if you set all songs to shuffle, and you find one comes on, can you go directly to that artist from the song? Or do you have to go through everything again to find the artist?

Good suggestion. This is what I do. I use my 16gb USB stick for my music. I do understand the OP frustration though. You would think it would be an easy way to find the song you want. Shuffling thru 1000s of songs is annoying.

Ah, that's a great idea!! I never even thought of that as an option somehow. That probably will alleviate the issue of it automatically switching to bluetooth as well (I hope). That's a really great idea. Then I could get a 32G stick and not have to worry about filling up my phone on top of it.

Thank you - I really, really appreciate the help!!

Awesome - I keep an eye on slickdeals.net and they constantly have stuff like this come through.

Are you able to create playlists on a flash drive just the same? I'm assuming you could. Just put the music in different folders...but I'm not positive.
