i just figured there was a better way to push users in the right direction other than having tsxkid tell them they are assholes for not searching
@ justn- you could use this one too if you like, though if theres some thread that constantly pops up in 3g, tell me what it is, ill just swap the pictures around for your section

It was actually me being a douche periodically. Don't give him all the credit. PS: any suggestions on with CAI I should get? I'm afraid of hydro locking. I heard you could put on condom on or something to protect it?

MODS please sticky this. if it doesn't happen before christmas, im honestly going to watch the new members list(if one exists) and at the end of each night, i will PM all new users a link to this thread, and ofcourse a link to the mods hoping for a sticky. this will be done until it is stickied. we are the 99%. occupy the search button

Good stuff, maybe it can be coded to email this when they register or something? At the very least someone should contact and Admin/Mod (just message them) and get it sticky'd or a reason why they won't.

But a fitment guide is good if you have the time and want to take the effort.
#29
@puppet yeah thats pretty much exactly what I was thinking but with more pictures, didnt realize you made one already, in that case its really not necessary
I think, maybe, I will go back and up-res this current one, add another example or two, and then add a google search blurb : )

I think this would be great... I have had some abrupt responses to my own questions and while it probably isn't intentional, it would be nice if those "veteran" board users could cut us a little slack sometimes.

I am mildly interested in the fitment guide. I want rims, that are wider than stock, to attach massive meaty tires to. 17 or 18 is fine... I just want wider tires. 245 or so.
So, the rim/tire sizing thing is a little nebulous to me.

i think the widest we got is ben, who fits 275's on his rear.
swarlo and i had 255's in the rear, but i swap mine out later on to 235's, i think he still has his 255s in the back.
how wide you wanna go optimus?

My 2 cents...
I bought a 2012 SE the end of march and although I've done a shitload to this car and now consider myself fairly knowledgeable, time wise I'm still somewhat of a noob. So I feel I can relate to both sides..
Luckily, when I decided to start modding, I worked 12 hr night shifts for 6 weeks straight and had ALOT of free time to research. I can't begin to add up the hours I spent on this forum. I learned SOOO much and have countless people to thank.
Now, I have a bad feeling I'm going to get burned at the stake for this, but here are issues I ran into with searching.
First, I understand the frustration of the "veterans" of this forum with new members asking simple, stupid questions. Or the difficulty in trying to explain in detail the process of something much more complex to someone who prob has no idea wtf any of that means.
But what's the point of a forum if someone is crucified for asking questions? The moderators should just turn this site into a search engine, if that's all anyone is allowed to do. And isn't it just as easy, if not easier in some cases, to answer someone's question as it is to belittle them and make them feel unwelcomed here by writing a paragraph on how they're a stupid noob who should learn to use the search feature?
When you have a question about something, not just car related, but regarding anything, isn't it easier to simply ask someone knowledgeable than to go spend hours looking it up?
I doubt anyone besides myself was or is getting paid to spend 12 hours a day learning everything possible about their car. Given how busy people are these days trying to juggle work, family, responsibilities, and everything else life throws at us, I figure most people are lucky to even find the 5 minutes it takes just to post a question! Certainly don't have time to read through countless pages of forums! So much easier to post a question, subscribe to the thread, then have people help you. Isn't that what we are all here for? To help each other?
Something I also ran into, was most people on here have a 2009 or 10. And although most things are the same, I did run into differences with my 2012. Little things, but things that could easily make you wonder if you did something wrong because the part doesn't match up like my hours of research said it would. So when someone searches for "icebox intake" for example, and get a shitload of pages to read, most posts may be from members wth earlier models. Now the install is the same, but when the tube that goes down to the bumper won't face forward, they are going to be concerned because nobody mentioned this. But if that person had posted on how to install it, then people answered, that point would have probable been brought up. Not so on older posts because nobody has posted on them in a long time so they aren't completely up to date.
Guess I'm done rambling for today, my adderal is wearing off. Lol.
But seriously, I'm certainly not trying to ruffle any feathers, offend anyone, or start any anguemets. Simply my experience with things and point of view on them.
I've done a crazy amount to this car and with exception of the tint, I've done it all myself. Even armed with a helms manual and hundreds of hours on this forum, I made quite a few mistakes, but also learned some tricks. I wish I knew those tricks and how to avoid those mistakes when I started.
All I can do is pass those things on to anyone else who comes along. Isn't that what this forum is here for???

Its not about crucifying people for asking questions or burning them at the stake for not having the free time to browse azine all day, shit, nigga i got work too
And ur right, without questions theres no forum, the guide is more for the likes of when someone asks something like
"What kind of exhaust options are there for our cars" (https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-performance-parts-modifications-299/exhaust-871548/)
something which if you search you will find threads that list them all;
Questions like "how does the cte icebox interact with the 2012 tsx internals" is more specific, more relevant and current, and likely does not have a specific thread answering that specific question, so i dont think anyone would frowney on stuff like that, this thread vs the first one i linked is a great example of a more specific issue (https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-performance-parts-modifications-299/magnaflow-14829-problem-870277/)

But I see your point. But using icebox as an example, I think it's assumed it's the same on all 2G models, so someone prob wouldn't search year specific.
And for exhaust, I've searched it numerous times and came up short with an answer. There wasn't many brands posted, and the ones that were only fit first gen, if I remember correctly. And I don't think fox was mentioned.
But I'm old and could just be the dementia...
#38
i mean your question is a legitimate question, not everything is the same, ECU for starters, etc. Sadly theres just not alot of options for exhaust, and fox/mugen arent mentioned much since you cant get hands on them outside of importing, and im amazed someone even imported the fox still

Like I said, having the experience of modding the hell out of the car, but still being new to the car from a time perspective, I can relate to both sides of the argument.
And I agree, in depth questions about things like ecu are different than how to open the friggin trunk. The search feature also brings up posts containing each word you type in. So if you type "injen intake" it brings up posts with the words injen OR intake. Not just posts containing both words. So you get crap on every intake. At least it always has for me.
I had just moved back to New Orleans in march when I totaled my Mazda and bought my tsx. Infiniti was actually on top of my list, but after being here a week, that's all I saw on the road. From this forum, G37 forums, and being in this city, I've learned that tsx drivers aren't the same as the arrogant douche bag G37 assholes, which this dreadful city is full of!
My comment was generalizing to try to give some imsight into the flaws and time consumptiom of the search feature and remind everyone as to why this forum is here and keep us from turning into the infinity crews.
