scratched tint anyone?
so i was searching up what % tint i shuld get, i came across few threads where people complain about rolling their windows down and have vertical scratches on the tint. some recommended moleskin, a felt that prevent scratches. they said this scratch happens on TL and TSX
so i was wondering, any 2nd gen with tinted windows rolled their windows down and scratched their tint and if i need this "moleskin" thing or not

My last 4 cars have never had any scratches from rolling the windows down. I've seen them on other cars, but it seems to usually be on cheap tint. I generally buy the most expensive one my shop offers or the one right below that. I believe they offer something like 5 different price levels. Not sure if price has anything to do with it, but that's what I buy.

Yeah, i reviewed my car I do have the carbon film non metallic. no scratches from the window going up and down.. however i do keep my windows exceptionally clean on a regular basis which prevents dirt from getting into those seals..
BUT thanks a lot, I found scratches on my rear right window from what seems to be someones spikey hair, or someone picking at my tint with there finger nails.. thanks a lot passengers.. people don't appreciate your shit man for real. looks like there was a tiny bubble in the middle of the scratch that someone w3as probably trying to pop being bored in the back seat with nothing else to do..

The guy that did my windows did a couple of 1st Gens and it was a piece of hard plastic that was on the inside of the windows, thus the scratches. Ours is velvetty, i doubt there's any need to change it.

Summer is Coming
I have a 1G TSX that was tinted the day I bought it. The installer did not remove the plastic blade inside the window which helps keep noise down and the window in place. I roll the drivers window down twice a day every day on my way to work, plus the odd drive through, toll road ect I figure over 3,000 cycles on the drivers door. Not a scratch.
I think there are two ways to avoid scratches, the first is to buy a good quality film. I bought Huper Optek ceramic. Not cheap but the best film I've ever had. Second is to flush the wiper blade inside the window with water so that any sticky residue from the installation will not attract dirt which is what realy causes the scratches on the tint. If you have scratches you may need to try to get inside the door panel and clean this area.
