Roof Spoiler Opinion

Found this on Ebay for the Civic. This seller has said they would do custom sizes based on measurements provided for the TSX.
http://www.superupup.com/karta034/Li...cription-1.jpg

Really like this style over the more common one everyone seems to be buying on Ebay which is a little to "Sloped" for my taste. Wanted to get some other opinions.

This damn roof spoiler research is killing me. I want something that just follows the contour of the roof, cant believe there aren't other designs out there. Appreciate any opinions.

Dude, you buy the civic roof spoiler for like 30 bucks primed, 100 is way too much to kill the gap imo since we dont know how good itll look!

also, heres an old thread from another foreign place

Something just clicked in my head! My old roommate right now lives in Moscow, and is coming back to visit the states this summer. So I was thinking about buying the russian roof spoiler (http://ats-tuning.ru/catalog/190/1401/) and getting him to bring it back with him. I'm hoping he'd be able to do carry on with it on the plane. If he can do this, I'm sure he could cram like 4 in the box one comes in, so maybe there's hope for a few of us. I'm going to email him tonight!

technically, when flying back, he'd have to declare it to customs(US citizens get tax exemption of up to $800) they'd also likely not fit as a carry on, as they are too long, but i recommend a duffel bag or golf bag style thing, and just charge it as an extra bag. its 50 bucks, split between 4 people, is still wayyyy less than the 100+ for shipping

Hmm, yeah, checking it might be easier. I just measured the roof and its like 45", which is way too big for a duffel bag. There's no way he'd have golf bags or anything like that to carry them with. He'd have to check the box which I guess would work. If there's a couple of us the fee for the checked box wont be a big deal to split. I asked him to check out the site and see how much shipping would be to his apartment, and if it comes painted or not.

you can buy it painted or unpainted, unpainted being the better option here cause theyll be lighter, cheaper, and ship faster

You would still have to pay op to ship it to you in the US. So that would be an extra what like $50 on top of price of spoiler??

It shouldn't be that much. I would think at most would be $20. Probably less since it will be a fairly light box.

seems like most of us are in NY/NJ, sounds like just 1 box needs to be shipped and we could pass it around like ed's mom or a bottle of vodka at a highschool party

Ok so I talked to my friend, and it looks like this is more difficult than I thought and won't really work out...

The Russian border guards are notorious for being dicks and asking for bribes. My roommate has had trouble with them before, and I'm sure being an American makes him an easy target for them. He said they could easily accuse him of buying the items, and trying to resell them with a mark up in the states, and confiscate them unless he bribes them.

He also said that right now his apartment doesn't accept mail since it is new(don't know why). So he could have it shipped it to his girlfriends apartment for $10. I don't know how far she is from him or how convenient that would be.

He would also have to carry an awkward 4ft box along with his luggage on the metro, to work, on a train, and then around the airport.

So, the cost of having it shipped to his gf's apartment, plus having it checked, plus the very likely chance the border guards confiscate it/want bribes, plus the cost of me shipping it to NY...isn't really practical. I think we'd be better off just paying the $50 or whatever it is to them to ship it directly to us. Sorry for getting your hopes up about this, I was pretty excited about this too.

KillerG.. you are one funny dude lol

They got back to me and said its not available for our car in that style... I'm not stopping there. Going to see if they plan to make that style for our car as the demand is clearly there for our vehicle. I definitely don't want to settle with something... really want it to fit and dont want some bunny slope ski jump on my roof... I'll post back any updates.

OK... so low and behold I check eBay and there is a new style available. Wanted to hear some opinions and if enough good ones I will get it and post up some pics. Let me know what you all think.

Personally I really like the simplicity of this one, no slope...

I'm on the fence on this mod... for the average Joe I'd think I say "look at the shitty quality of that car. The window doesn't come flush with the roof."

I think if I could pull off a major mod like have LEDs underneath besides that dumb third stoplight now, I'd spend $100 and try it.

Looks decent, nice and simple. I wonder if they would sell one unpainted and I could plastidip/vinyl it.

Thanks for the feedback, and I agree with you. I would ask him about the unpainted option, he got back to me within a day because I didn't see the PMM paint code and he said they can do it that color. Wouldn't hurt to ask. Might be able to give you a better price. Let me know what he says.

It would be nice to see some close up shots on the car to see some details. With their ghosted logo and lack of any quality picture ... I will have to pass

Just got my 2010 TSX today, I had a rear wing spoiler on my 08 accord and want to do something for the TSX. IF i go with a rear wing do I need to change the trunk springs like I had to on the accord?
If so i may just end up going with a rear lip.

Thoughts?

you technically need to change the springs for both, but it is less necessary with the lip vs the wing

If you have the lip and dont install the spring, the trunk just wont pop up as high when you press the button due to the weight of the lip. I didnt change the spring when I added my lip because it didnt make that much of a difference for me as you still have to physically lift and open the trunk anyways.

I currently have the Project 10k Ebay spoiler and it looks pretty good. I didn't mind the color or what it's made out of because it was gonna be wrapped in CF film.

^Any more pictures of it at different angles?

If only it were priced reasonably, I would get it. Maybe I will some day in the future, or if we can get a groupbuy going so its cheaper.

Great, would help to see a side angle. Appreciate you sharing the pics, like that spoiler but man its a little pricey for what it is unpainted, but I do like that style.
