Reset TPS warning light

My question is this. My winter wheels did not have the TPS sensors, so I had the info warning all winter.
OK nop problem.
Now I just re-installed the factory wheels with summer tires. I thought the warning would go out once signal was re-established. Not so.
Anyone know how to reset the warning?

Just drive the car at slow speed (10 mph) and after 40 seconds, the warning should go off.

Nope tried that. I figured it would re- set itself after the the factory wheels started to transmit.
I am not sure if an OBD-2 code scanner will re set. Nothing in the manual except take to dealer.

maybe in sleep mode

I read about this problem on a civic forum and the honda tech there said that this is caused by the TPMS going into sleep mode, similar to when the car is delivered to the dealer from the factory.

Basically, to get them out of sleep mode, you can reset them by first inflating to something high like 40-50 psi, then going to almost flat like 15 psi, then inflating back to normal. Should reset after that procedure. Oh, and you might want to check that with a dealership or mechanic before actually trying it.

BTW, I'm thinking of doing the same thing with my winters. Was it really annoying to have the light on?

If all else failed, take it back to the dealer. Your car is still under warranty.

I have my 19" rims on w/o TPMS, and the TPMS error light became too annoying after three weeks so I switched back to my 17". The TPMS light switched off after driving two blocks. Although after a while, the TPMS light on the 17" would come on intermittently then off again. The dealer reset the sensors for me (free of charge) and informed me that because my car is lowered, it can throw off the sensor. It still comes on intermittently.

I finally installed new TPMS sensor part # 42753-TL2-A52 on my 19", instead of part # 42753-TL2-A51 which was listed for 09 TSX, I got the A52 which is what listed on for 2010 TSX. Guess what, I drove it for 1 minute, the TPMS light went off after I left the tire shop where the sensors were installed, and it hasn't came back on since then (over 1300 km of driving in three weeks).

That would help. I think i tried that but to no avail.
I am thinking of unhooking the ground to see if that would reset.
The light was annoying to begin with You learn to ignore it. I was not anticipating this to be an issue when the stock wheels went back on.

hey tech, where did you pick up the sensor from and what did you pay?

You guys know anything about VSA being affected if the TPMS warning light is on?

I believe I read that if the TPMS issues a warning you can not shut off the VSA. Even if it is in the off position the car will overide that command and keep it turned on.

I bought them at Finlay Acura at Hendersen NV-Ray Carlisle is the Parts manager- 702 982 4160. They cost $68 each and UPS ground within US is $8.00.

Alternatively, you may contact our forum vendor, Rob at Acura of Lynnwood 888-513-2862, super nice guy, I bought my CTE Icebox from him.

Don't forget to buy the nut 42754-STK-A01- $1.00 each and washer 42755-STK-A01 $0.60 each.

And RKeatF1, I think you are correct about the VSA.

thanks tech,

so it's about $280 shipped within US? Did you go over to the states to pick up? I see you're a fellow canuck. That's still a bit steep. Did you need the dealer to recalibrate to the new psi (I'm assuming you're running different psi on the 17's and 19's right?).

My local Acura dealer was going to charge me C$104 for each TPMS sensor plus taxes, hence, with C$ almost at par, I went with an American Acura dealer.

My brother has a mailbox in Pt. Roberts, WA. I had them shipped via UPS to Canada for $25. But if possible, try to ship via USPS to Canada, UPS will clear Customs on your behalf, but they can charge upto $50 for their service plus GST/PST or HST, Canada Post on the otherhand charges $5 for their service. Rob at Acura of Lynnwood will ship via USPS, took only 7 days for me to get the CTE Icebox from Lynnwood, WA to Vancouver,BC (include weekends and customs clearance).

No need to recalibrate by dealer. I set my tires at 38 psi all around with no TPMS error light.

Canadian Prices for Sensors

[quote=5thTo2nd;11848202]hey tech, where did you pick up the sensor from and what did you pay?

I purchased sensors in Canada (Ontario) from Fairway Acura back in December 2009. The price with taxes in about $180 Canadian taxes in. That included the sensor, washer and nut.

I first inquired about the sensors in October 2009 and the parts manager suggested I wait until late November early December as he had ordered about 800 of these for all the winter tire customers.

^ivica, is that C$180 for all 4 sensors, same part #. If so, you have an absolute smoking deal.

Yes, that's for all 4. Same Part No. No reprogramming needed either as they are self learning. I picked up the sensors and had Costco install them on new rims and tires. No issues after one winter. I think it's a good deal but those sensors are still way over priced.

Someone is making a killing on a $5 dollar item.

Is Fairview Acura the one in Kitchener/Waterloo?

^I have just called the Parts dept of Fairview Acura, the TPMS special is over, but he can still get you a set for $260 plus tax (which is still cheaper than the US). He did mention if you want to wait till the fall again, he will place another big order which will result in a better price again. Thanks ivica for the info.

I don't know for sure. I know the A51 is listed on the Pacific Sensor website as the model no. for the 2009 TSX. I went with what the dealer gave me. I believe they were the 51. I kept the packages, I'll have to locate them though.
My sensors worked well. Make sure you get all of the hardware with the sensor (washer and nut). The parts guy will guide you through it.

My original question is still un answered. Other than take it to the Dealer to reset the sensors.
Just thought someone else might have run into this issue!

^Did you try to unhook the negative terminal as mentioned earlier ? Remember to write down the radio and/or Nav code before proceeding. Your best bet I think is still to bring it back to the dealer and let them reset/relearn the TPMS sensors, my dealer did it free of charge.

Did you try the method I described above to get it out of sleep mode?
