Remote CD Changer?

I have a new '13 Spec. Ed. and realized without the Tech. Pkg. the CD is just a single player. Acura doesn't do this on other models. If no Tech....then you have an in dash 6 disc CD changer.

So, my question is this: Has anyone found a remote multi disc CD changer that will operate from the factory radio??
I have done some research and so far nothing. I will call Crutchfield tomorrow. Web site says "no have."

Thanks for any help on this you might have. I love the car, but, am pissed they didn't put in a 6 disc unit. They do it on the TL's, the RDX...and I think others.

I don't there will be much if any CD changers that will work with the OEM stereo system. There might be a chance the OEM 6 disc changer might work, but not sure if there will be a connector for it in the non-tech dash wiring harness. With iPod/USB integration, auxiliary audio port, and bluetooth audio, there's plenty of options to pick from. I've had my '09 non-tech TSX since May of 2008 and I have never used the CD player .

^ +1. Some car manufacturers are thinking of not even offering a CD player in some of their models. On my 2010 Base, I have used my CD player only once to make sure it worked! All my music is on a 8 Gig SD card, in MP3 format.

Yeah, I kinda knew the CD thing is close to being on it's way out. Although, Acura was one of the last car makers that was still offering casette players in it's cars.

But, I know that technology is pushing out the "old way" of listening to music. Guess I'm old fashioned and need to get "updated."

Have you tried or know about putting music on a flash drive and plugging in to the USB port? I wonder what the sound quality would be like?

Thanks for your reply!!

Sir,
It depends on the quality of the encoding. Our cars only play MP3 and WMA but I only use MP3.

Sound quality is OK for most of the music I normally play, but it is never as good as a true audio CD due to the lossy encoding used in MP3. However, it falls within what I consider to be "good enough for the intended purpose"... Beats the bulk of a CD changer, and you can put way more songs in a USB stick than a 6-CD changer.

As you likely know, commercial CDs record onto the Tech Hard Drive when you play them once, and you can listen and voice search your HDD by artist, song, album, or genre. For iTunes, better to use a USBstick to play, as mentioned above. Best of all, DVD-As are awesome when played on the ELS. They do not record onto the HDD.

I don't think I've used a CD player in at least 3 years. Lol
Se had the USB, iPod, and Bluetooth audio. Why do you need a cd changer?
I have my entire collection on a 120g iPod along with my iPhone for podcasts n stuff.
More than I need.

Thank you, but, I do know all about what you just talked about. I have a '13 RDX Tech AWD. Learned all about DVD-A's, etc. My TSX does not have a Tech Pkg. since it's a Spec. Ed. and that's not an option.

Sometimes you like what you like. I'm older than most on here...and most were raised with ipods, etc. I was not. Doesn't mean I can't change...but, for now I choose not to. We do like the HDD system on the RDX. I made the decision I liked the Spec. Ed. model better than a base with Tech. I am a car guy and like fun stuff to drive. I've owned many, many cars. Lots of Mustang GT's, Cobra Mustangs, a Saleen Mustang, a Corvette, Supra Turbo, etc, etc. And I will have fun interesting cars until I croak!! Might be buried in Roush Mustang!! OK...NOT!

We love having our 2 '13 Acuras. My wife loves the RDX and that's her main driver. I like it too, but, the TSX is my main driver. Both have been fully clear bra'd with 3M. New Contis go on tomorrow for the TSX.

Anyway....thanks for the feedback.

Congrats on the TSX. Can't say I understand after owning all those pretty cool sports cars, you now own two near luxury vehicles.
