Redneck engineering gone wild, who needs your tech package??

I usually use my phone for my nav, but on long trips it is dedicated to entertainment and such for the little one. So, break out the Garmin from circa 2008. Suction cups are awful, so a better solution. Garmin ball + 2x6 + wood screws.

I give you...

That right there is some ghetto rigging at its finest.

But it works?

Then it's a brilliant idea!

Kudos.

Heh, clever HondaGuy347... or should I say HondaMacGuyver347

I also hate suction cups. Minor trade-off to this solution is that the unit is too far down, but voice should make up for some of that.

Guess it's a matter of choice, block the base info screen or the cubby

This is a one-use-only type thing. It won't live in there all the time, just for this road trip.

Yea, I use GPS a few times a year, so like you it's not worth having a permanent install.

It would be cool if you stained/polished the wood to match the plastic wood trim in the car.

haha that's smart!!

one thing that sux about tsx is that there isn't a good place for the mount...

I wish i could utilize the useless infotainment screen (non tech) and try to use that space but the suction won't stick to the material..

Why not use a sandbag like I did above with the Garmin?

Is that the stock shift knob?

Mine is part metal and gets white hot under the sun.
