recommended service?

so i was getting my car fixed last week and they have a few things they recommended me to service, but they are quite costly. so i want to know if they are necessary ?

1. 007 spark plugs, estimate $265
2. 90d 90,000 mile service - perform lube, oil, and filter change, check/ADJ $640
3. EFI perform EFI/THROTTLE BODY SERVICE $170
4. 007 wiper inserts $24

wipers i know i dont need to change. they are fine, and if i do, i can do it myself.

as for oil change and filter change, i can bring my own oil and have a shop change it for like 20 bucks..filter i can probaly get one and do it myself or have a shop, but i heard its quite easy to do myself..i dont know aobut the lube and the check adj?

also, throttle body service...do i need to perform that?

and spark plugs.

thanks guys lol

90k miles is about the time for spark plugs to be replaced.

and $24 for wiper INSERTS? what the crap. you can get a pair of bosch wipers for around that price no?

I haven't looked at the TSX layout for the spark-plugs but for every other vehicles I owned, spark-plugs replacement is the easiest thing to do. Far easier than oil replacement, much easier than headlight bulb replacement, and still easier than battery replacement.
Oh, wait, it's 10 times easier than replace the wiper inserts.

Why are they suggesting the 90,000mi service for you? You have <15k miles, correct?

Unless I'm missing something here...? lol.

I just did my wiper blades at the dealer and it came to $15.00

You need spark plugs but not for the whole neighborhood. Never go back to these people.

If you are not sure what should be done there is a book in the glovebox that will tell you.

They see that you're a kid so they're trying to take advantage of you. Luckily, you're a lot smarter than they are and came here to ask first. I would suggest never taking your services to that place again, and letting them know it was because they were assholes.

Oh, and to answer your questions, you don't need any of those services, period. Listen to the MID, not assholes. I bought wiper inserts FROM THE DEALER for $9.

Ed, sounds like they are trying to take you for a ride... Our spark plugs should last close to 100K miles.

The throttle body service: they want to clean your throttle body. It involved removing the throttle body and wiping the inside to remove dirt etc. Gasket also needs to be changed. Normally, it does not need cleaning for close to 100K miles, unless you are having specific problems. So take your car somewhere else!

I have heard of unscrupulous dealers, but this one takes the cake

Try to sell you a 90K service when you have 11K on the odometer. Throttle Body cleaning is just a money grab for a new car.

Changing 4 spark plugs does not cost $265. My Sienna has Iridium plugs, dealer changed them (all 6) at 100K mile mark for $170, the back 3 are a pain in the butt to get at and change.

wow.. your dealer is a dick. all those items are completely unnecessary at 10k miles. tell them to go suck a nut.

lol what dealer is this? So other SoCal people know. That's some BS right there.

Oil life should drop to 10% before needing a change.

Seems like a misunderstanding. Did you call them back and ask why they are recommending 90k service at 10k miles?? Doesn't sound right.....or wow they are really bad and trying to take advantage.

Ed,
This is the worst dealership I think in that area, you can go to Thomas Acura @ West Covina, They charge about $350 for the 30/60/90K miles service. I just change my spark plug for my 04 TSX by myself. Got the parts from Acura of Riverside for about $90.

^^ misunderstanding or not, unless your car has a problem you should just follow the MID for the recommended service schedule.

Personally, it sounds like they're a bunch of d-bags.

I have all the service on my tsx done by acura/honda dealers. I had the spark plugs changed at my last service-111,481 miles-they charged me $92.87.

Scam artists. There is no other explanation unless they mixed up work tickets with another customer. But even if they did, $265 for spark plugs is absolutely outrageous.
