Rear shelf cover

I have a black TSX with a black interior and for some inexplicable reason the rear shelf is tan. I thought that I could learn to live with it but as time goes on it’s beginning to bother more and more. I read that they have since corrected this issue in production so I went to two dealers today to see what it looked like; unfortunately every TSX on the lot also had the tan shelf. Additionally I spoke with the service manager at my dealer and he had no idea what I was talking about and said that he never heard of a black rear shelf in a TSX (Just the TL).

Does anyone know if they have corrected this issue and if you have one if these vehicles is there any way you could please post a picture? I’d love to take the picture to my dealer and see if there is anything I can work out with them to have the shelf replaced.

Thanks!

It's not so much a "correction" but just a cosmetic change. But yes, the newer produced models do in fact have a black shelf.

I also have black on black, but I've come to like the tan shelf. It flows still with the tan headliner and pillars, and with tinted windows you don't even know from the outside. Plus it doesn't show lint as easily.

Honestly after i tinted the rear window I haven't noticed it at all. I never ride in the back or look into my rear window from the outside.. I guess it could be annoying but it's rather irrelevant after you forget about it.

One good thing I noticed about the tan shelf is that it does not reflect sunlight on the rear window.

Anyway, the tan shelf did kind of bother me at first but now I don't mind it at all. I too have yet to see one w/ a black shelf, though.

I have the black shelf, I'll take a pic and post it when I get home. My production date was 11/08, which is probably when they corrected the issue.

I have a tan shelf and I too thought it looked horrible. I had the black shelf on a loaner I got one day and it really looked like cheap material compared to the tan stuff. I have since decided I like the tan better. The black on black just didn't look good.

I have a tan (grey) interior and tan rear shelf... so for me it's ok like this; but my question is: all new produced cars comes with black rear shelf now?

I do like the black rear shelf better, since it looks good with the ebony interior, but after tinting my car, I don't care much for it anymore

I had an argument with my dealer while we were cruising the lot looking for ebony interior. I saw the rear shelf and figured it was the interior color, but noooooooooo as we approached I saw my car had a taupe shelf and ebony leather.

I figured that was the way it was & it didn't bug me...until I saw they had a running production change to switch to black.

HeavyDuty...

I see in your sig you say your color is NBP?

There is no NBP as far as I'm aware for the '09. You have black don't you? Should say CBP, Crystal Black Pearl. I believe the first gen. was NBP.
