Quick question on LED DRL and high beams
I did a search and couldnt find anything so i figured i'd give a quick post..
If you switch your DRL with LED bulbs with resistors etc for the error message, what would happen if you or someone driving your car tried to use the high beams? Would that blow out your LED lights? Cause any electrical problems? Blow something up? thanks in advance |
LED's can be use as high beams
|
they can be used as highbeams, the only drawback is that they are gonna be very dim highbeams. LED's for the most part suck when it comes to lighting far and wide.
|
i notice almost no highbeam at all on my led drls. so i switched them out
|
i noticed 19 threads with a nearly identical question, so i ignored the question in this one
|
^^It's his first post man, we are supposed to be welcoming!! But yes, if you switch to LEDs most likely it will blow up!
|
Thank you for the info. Yea i wasnt sure what would happen if you had LEDs in there and someone put on the high beams if the bulbs would blow out or something worse.
thanks again |
What's the stock wattage on the DRL's? Thinking of going with these....no need for resistors or anything?
Bulb Size :9005 Wattage :65 Color: Hyper Yellow Color Temp: 2500K http://www.ebay.com/itm/9005-NOKYA-H...sories&vxp=mtr |
If you use resistors and everything, it'll be fine. I have them in my car. The high beams are going to be shit though, but trying to flash them works and is completely noticeable. Awesome mod IMO
|
So you do NEED resistors? You can't just do a plug and play with them? They are 65 watts and it looks like the OEM ones are 65 watts as well.
|
Well the LEDs I had kept throwing me an error code without a resistor.
I'm not sure of my wattage, as i just bought the iJDM kit, which came with everything i needed for the TSX. |

These are fine, they aren't LEDs. They will run exactly like your OEM bulbs except in color.

I like to switch out my drls as well. preferably not LEDs. i'm thinking about getting these instead. not sure of anyone else is interested. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOKYA-STAGE-...#ht_1987wt_868

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=nokya+arctic and this guy https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=nokya+arctic and it'd be great if you could do a full write up about the LED's in your DRL's. be careful when testing if you need a resistor, its never been done before. really guys, groundbreaking shit tell these guys about it https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...hlight=led+drl https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tsx-2009-2014-143/led-drl-no-error-799943/ THANKS GUYS AND GOODLUCK |

you should totally get those and pioneer them or something! you'd be like the hero. then you could tell these guys about your experience, you may get an award or like a medal or something.

These guys don't even exist on Azine anymore...
Because their car blew up! |
lmfao im a nice guy, but my one pet peeve is not hitting search and typing in 2 words. i literally didn't even re search or anything. the first 2 words yielded all those results on the first page. obviously OP didn't bother. and theres been dozens of these types of threads recently. where the topic has been fully discussed, and if something wasn't answered there(i know this was), then a post should be made in that thread

At least we posted in this thread, instead of making a new one eh! :)
I'll post some pics once I get the Nokya Yellows on! I think it's funny how some of the Nokya packages say 65w 70w and 80w. |
I am looking for a DRL that is bright (seen by oncoming traffic), yet looks modern , and not pale yellow like my stock TSX has.
Any recommendations from the experts? I don't have the expertise for resisters and LED..so I am stuck with just upgrading the bulb. Apprecaite the help. i can't put red or purple, don't need cops harassing me. |

without a resistor the warning will light.
get some high power leds at vleds. they sell plug and play resistors too. you dont need any DRL box just a straight up resistor and the highest power bulb they sell for a 9005. |
i am looking into this as well and it comes down to 3 options essentially:
vled has 'ultra' powered leds(45w) rated @ 4500 lumen, but its a bit pricey @ 250. From what I can tell, those bulbs can be mounted however you want, changing the rotational aim/angle as well as depth of the LED by adjusting the bulb collar. vled also has, 'high' powered leds(25w) rated @ 3000 lumens, thats slightly cheaper @ 200. Another benefit is that you can also choose the color temp between 5000k and 6000k. Both of these led kits have a fan built into the led heatsink. trs has morimoto xb leds for 3000 lumen and comes in the 5000k color temp. These led kits seem to have a slightly bigger heatsink, with no fan so it is passively cooled. However, the bulb collar is not adjustable, so the led angle may not be ideal or aimed as well as the adjustable collar should be. TRS's kit is 100. |

robpp was selling his, might be sold now not sure. Check out his build thread he knows a ton about LED as drl.
For now they're sitting on my shelf so I could actually be persuaded to let them go if someone wanted them... |
