Potential Buyer
Hi Guys,
My BMW E30 was totalled last week and I am looking to get into something newer such as a 2010+ acura tsx 6 speed manual.
I am currently looking at one with about 60k miles but the clutch was replaced at 50k miles. It is a 2 owner car, the current owner says the 1st owner ruined the clutch so it had to be replaced. Other than that, the car is very clean and looks like a good buy.
Does this seem fishy at all? Are these cars prone to clutch or transmission issues? Do I need to be concerned here?
Thanks for any help!

I got a 2-owner '12 6MT, I used the Consumer Reports data and it is pretty much as least problematic as you can get, basically just some competition from the Accord on reliability. Perhaps it's a good deal to have a new clutch!
Some people don't like CR for some reason but there isn't anything better in terms of data, as far as I know.

The Honda 6MT is bulletproof. The clutch got messed up purely because the first owner did not know how to properly drive stick.
If everything else checks out, I say go for it! The most talked about potential issue with this car is burning engine oil. There are a few threads here that will describe that in detail. There's also a TSB for it, but it's quite hard to get the dealerships to acknowledge the problem instead of saying "it's normal".
Good luck! And hope everyone involved in the crash is ok.

Was it replaced with an OEM quality clutch? Doesn't sound like much to be worried about. I still kick myself in the arse for passing up on a white/ebony 6MT Tech and getting my black/ebony instead.
