Pondering over replacing my 2010 TSX with 2011 model year
So, last month got into a stupid accident in NYC. This guy turned right while indicating left, therefore pushed me into another parked car. My stupid insurance company is putting 10% liability on me due to no-fault NY insurance laws. I am contesting this and suing the other party for diminished value.
My baby got cosmetic damages on both sides with 6k in repair bills and a black mark on its history. Just got the car fixed last weekend but now pondering over whether it's worth selling mine and replacing it with a 2011 model year.
The resale value is definitely gonna take a hit due to the accident but otherwise it's in pristine condition with 10k miles in a year. Does anyone knows how long does it takes the carfax history to show the accident?
I got my car last year around the same time for 26k plus tags and taxes. Any clues if such a price is still available and whether if it worth making a switch?
SUGGESTIONS PLEASE...

trying to sell your car before the accident shows on carfax is bad car karma. i'm in nyc multiple times a week, i know how shitty the drivers are, sucks that you got hit. i dont think upgrading to the 2011 is worth it though. the black mark will be there if you sell it now or in 3 years, but in 3 years it'll be more worth it to sell/trade the car because your car loses the most value in the 1st year, a little less in the 2nd year, and then is close to evening out by the 3rd-4th year. selling before then is usually frowned upon, usually

Agreed with what Dave said. In addition to that, finding a good deal on a new car now is kind of hard. I don't think Japan is up to 100% of their production levels so from what I've heard dealers aren't as keen as cutting costs to make a deal. It's either you take theirs or not cuz every dealer is gonna give you the same numbers (just about). It may have changed a bit now...not sure how the Japan factories are.

Re-read your posting and see what you are thinking of doing lol. Madness.
Don't get rid of yours.. Only to get the same thing? Makes no sense; financially or in any other way. Knowing your luck you'd get in an accident with the new one lol
Cheers mate, stay put!
