oil life, is this normal?

today is exactly one month after i bought my base tsx '10. my oil life down to 80% with 730 miles, that's too fast imo since i searched the forum and the avg is about 7k miles for the 1st oil change (15% oil life). at this pace, i will have to do the 1st oil change about 3k miles. also, my avg mpg is about 18 and change. due to the fact that i drive in nyc, around 80% city 20% highway miles (some stop and go highway traffics).
i do know that the 7k miles 1st oil change you guys got are most highway miles, and city driving gonna reduce the life much more. just wondering am i doing alright?

I think you are fine. What you are describing is the "severe" condition vs. the "normal" condition, so the recommended oil change interval is shorter. The 18 mpg you're getting is also a telltale sign of driving in severe conditions. What is your driving style? Aggressive? Grandma? I think that might affect oil life/mpg as well.

^Agreed. 80%+ city driving in NYC is severe. The lowest mileage I've seen in the forum for the first A1 service was 4,000 miles, mine came on @ 7,000 miles with 60% spirited hwy driving.

The maintenance minder takes into account short haul city driving vs. Hwy driving and determines the % accordingly. So dont worry!

for the 1st 600 break in miles, i was driving normal and never pass 5k rpm. and then i floor it maybe like 15 times just wanted to test how fast the car can go lol. 18 mpg is about the same as my old scion tc which i drove the same 80% city

Mine never go beyond 5500 mile between the change. I heard lots of people can go up to 8, 9K between the change. I was in your position when i heard this, but I think 5K miles is normal. My oil life just came down to 40%. It is 4k miles from last oil change. I drive 50 city /50 highway miles. Oil life will be gone down quick when you drive more city miles than highway miles.

I assume the OP has V6 engine 'cuz 18mpg is way too low for an I4.

OP drives a Vortex Blue Base I4 model. If her driving is mostly city stop and go traffic, then 18mpg is not a surprise.

Believe it or not, I drive an I4 and I've been getting 19 mpg with mostly city driving and lots of high revving.
