oh harro der america.

Hey guys,

Just wondering, what detailing products do you use on your car?

We've a limited range here, so I'm just looking for some semi-pro stuff for waxing.

What's the usual go with detailing?

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. Cleanse
4. Wax

^ Is that right?

Is there actual all in one kits I can buy or do I have to get it all separately.

My take:

1) Wash - power rinse, followed by a hand wash with mild detergent, followed by another power rinse.
2) Dry - Using a good quality chamois
3) Wax - I'm a traditionalist so I've been using carnuba wax for years, but you'll find a million opinions and there are many great products to choose from. I use Pinnacle Signature Series II paste. It goes on easy with great results.

I try to wax at least four times a year, it's all I have time for. In the cold weather I do run it through the TOUCHLESS car wash as much as possible and follow the wash with a polymer-based paint sealant which goes on in about 15m. I use Nano Wax. I like the look of the pure carnuba finish better but it takes longer to apply and polish.

I use the clay once a year to clean out the winter soil before the first wax in the spring.

More important than whatever products you choose is making sure that all the buckets, sponges, cloths, pads, and chamois are clean and free of grit that will scratch the finish. I've learned through experience that you can be your car's worst enemy.

I use a leaf blower to dry my car and use microfiber towels to get the last few drops.

a chamois will mar Acura's SOFT paint.

Use a microfiber towel or even better a microfiber weave towel to dry.

a carnuba wax is natural, where as a sealant is man made.
the sealant will last A LOT longer than a wax.

you can always visit the wash and wax section of acurazine to pick up more tips

I'm looking at clay kits:

This one has the clay lube and two 80g bars:

http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G1016...9387641&sr=8-2

This one has the clay lube and a whole lot of other things for a few dollars more, except it only has a 25g clay bar:

http://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G3300...9387650&sr=8-3

Which one would you guys choose?

I CU2 I remember your thread didnt you have some special solvent that you hooked up to your power wash?

I follow those 4 steps you posted as well. I use generic off the shelf car detailing products.

There's some ebay clay from China for $4 or something, 200g.

Would you use that lol?

OH YEAH.

What about the actual car wash?

What's the difference between like a Meguiars/Zaino and a cheap ArmourAll?

The blower sounds like a great idea and it's probably faster too. I'm going to get me one of these towels to do the finish drying:
