Official defconskylude custom grill creation

feel free to shit on my thread as i progress with it.

so i sourced a lower grill aka outer grill from an 09-10.

$10 ! woot. not a bad investment to create something new from scratch.

will be picking it up on Monday afternoon

during the day time, i can mess around with different cardboard designs. maybe 3-4 different grill templates

then i can start laying the fiberglass on the 3-4 grills next weekend at the same time.

this will likely be a one off just to piss you guys off. hahaha

of course pics will be added when i do the design and fiberglassing.

btw i am working on another kid so when the 2nd one pops out, then youll know the shit hit the fan with this project.

if you guys want to learn artz and kraftz, go to www.fiberglassforums.com and go to the exterior section

youll be surprised how easy this shit is.

i think using index cards would be easier to manipulate and cut up as opposed to corrugated boxes.

well i had some time for arts and crafts this evening

i decided to try popsicle sticks and tape to manipulate the shape. other than that, ill be using index cards and clay to help shape the rest. once i finalize the shape, then ill layer it with bondo (aka body filler) to smooth it out.

i like the way i did this because i can bend the sticks in different rows.

onto the pics. dont mind the shitty gaps. that can easily be fixed with the body filler

1st design will be the one piece mugen bumper grill. bottom portion is half way done. ill have to work on the upper half. then ill have to trim the sticks with my dremel. ill be adding some bevels to give it more dimensions.

300 sticks of popsicle sticks $5 each

bought 4 packs so i have 1200 sticks to work with

Props to you for giving this a go. Wish I had the time and energy to put towards a project like this. I am about to build one of the most epic halloween costumes known. If I am successful Ill post it up.

Cant wait to see the finished product.
