My valve stem caps got stolen!

What a way to start hump day... weird thing is I have 8 total caps on my car, and they stole only 2 of them, both on the same side. I park really close to the wall on my passenger side (paranoid of door dings) so maybe they couldn't get to that side.

Maybe they read iamitman's thread and decided to do me a favor, because my caps are all metal. For the record, none of them are fused.

Yep and in California they need special air to pass inspection, they also spell tire different.

it's for bleeding off the regular air when you fill them with nitrogen (pretty common thing in Japan)

LOL!! I was going to mention this but I couldn't remember who this happened to.

First tire thiefs, then valve-stem thiefs. What is the world coming to?

I feel like next we're going to have a thread that says

"WTF, windshield wiper blades stolen?"

Yeah it seems odd that they'd only want 2. When I noticed the driver's side I freaked out because I thought maybe they'd try to squeeze between the wall and my car to get to the other side and end up scratching the body.

I guess valve stem caps are cheap, so it's not too bad. I just browsed some offerings online though and I can't find any that are similar to my existing ones. I definitely don't want to leave them exposed like that.

WRT to the 2 stems, I read that one is used to quickly monitor tire pressure while the other is used for filling. Since these are Enkei "racing" wheels, that's what they do at the track. Obviously, I'm racing my car all over town.

Geezus! That double valve stem pic reminded me of this;

I've never heard of that double valve stem bleed the dense air...gig, that's wild looking.

For relevant content, people suck, it was prolly some kids stealing your valve stems for their bikes.

Yesterday they stole 2 valve caps, tomorrow they will take 2 wheel nuts, near future, your 2 rims/wheels probably gone. Society is going down daily.
Anyway, sorry to hear that, suck though.

Thanks pinatubo. Stuff like this just gives me more incentive to be the kind of person I want to be. If someone steals my property I have no control over it, but I can control how I react to it and how I rectify the situation.

So, speaking of rectify, anybody have suggestions for new caps? ed's suggested red, and I think I might go that route. Problem is finding ones that will match the lug nuts.

i know WORK makes valve stems that match their lugs but they cost a fortune and i highly doubt you wanna do that. actually, the works i bought came with valve stem caps that match that colour that i don't want.

Thanks Kid, I did see the WORK ones and they were $50 for a set, definitely not worth it. I'm going to stop by a local store to see what they have before going the online route.

its very difficult to find matching color ones, unless you want to spend 50 bucks on them

I'd just laugh about it, if someone really needs valve stem caps that bad then the joke's on them. lol

That being I had mine stolen quite some time ago off my old car and was a little angry at first as well. They were chrome with bright green dots to let places know they were nitrogen filled. lol

Due to the hatre and jealousy.
They see you driving an "up-scale" vehicle, they do that just to ease their pain not getting one.

Now I know why the thief has stolen your 2 caps, because s/he doesn't want to spend $50 or doesn't have $50 to spend.

We hear that in California they steal the entire car cause its quicker than just taking the tires wheels.
Taking valves sound like what kids do before they work up to entire car.
Why do you have 2 valves ??
No one has said this yet.
Left Brain / Right Brain ???
In / Out ???

Thats the stupid thing about it. A TSX isn't an expensive car by any means. The base is 30k and can be easily bought for 27k for the dealer. A nice Nissan Maxima, Honda Accord, or Toyota Camry with a few options cost that much!

Anyone work on your car recently? Sometimes the tech forgets to put them back on when they do a courtesy air pressure check. What's the next ride going to be?

No, I wish someone did because then I'd know who to go after. I'm pretty sure it happened between last Tuesday and Wednesday. I was able to find some similar ones from Kragen, but the color is slightly off. I'll just have to live with this, just like how I lived with the giant dent on my '09 for 2 years.

My next ride might be a 777, a 747, the Underground, and then the MTR. My wife and I are thinking about traveling the world while we're still relatively young and kid-less. I've already given notice to my work to be done at the end of tax season (hopefully). I'm going to keep and enjoy my car until I can get a price that's not $6k less than my current lease buyout (again, hopefully).
