Mirror Swap Question
Mirror Swap Question
I own a 1st gen TSX and I really like the design of the exterior mirrors over the 2nd gen because the mirror blinkers occupy the whole length of the housing instead of in the corner. Also the 2nd gen mirrors are too Lexus IS big for my tastes.
Is there anyway you can swap the 1st gen TSX mirrors onto the 2nd gen TSX? Will it fit?

I am going to take a guess here and say NO.
I have done some mirror swaps (JDM power folding) on some previous Hondas, but the mounting plate on the mirror which connects to the A pilar area is going to be different so unless you do some custom molding of the second gen mounting plate to the first gen mirror, I don't see it working.
The folding mirrors also have an area when the folding mechanism attaches to the base, maybe you can try to change the mirror at that point, but again the second gen mirrors are so much bigger so I am assuming the base and all other areas are bigger as well.

Thanks for the reply. I guess you're right. I was only hoping because I know the Honda Accord hybrids use the 1st gen TSX mirrors to distinguish the difference from regular accords. The 2nd gen TSX is still pretty sweet, but the mirrors are the only things I would have a hard time getting used to.
Nah, not really. I love the new TSX. I can get used to them. I just don't like how they are so big.(imho) This is one of the reasons why I just cannot fall for the Lexus IS, no matter what trim or engine. The TSX is a different story. It's more of a well rounded car and a much better looker! The mirrors actually do flow pretty darn well with the body style.
