i have some really small projectors that I want to try and retrofit in my fogs so I can have HIDs AND a cutoff line/

i done this before on the jeep but that fog was a bit bigger.

so

anyone have a busted one, maybe cracked lens, something like that. one to test with.

TIA
ROB

here is my previous ones with a 2 inch projector.

i have even smaller ones to try on the tsx/

Just as an aside, I'm sure that you are aware that projector and fog lights don't go together.

The purpose of a fog Light is to illuminate the area directly in front of (that area between the front of your car and where the headlights illuminate the road) as well as to the sides of the road to help you identify lane markings.

"projector fog lights" cannot do that.

In theory, if you never encounter fog, you could use the housings as driving lights but in our cars they are too low to the ground for that.

Your Jeep was a whole different ball of wax as the lights were much higher and thus were able to function as driving lights.

I sure that the usual group of intarweb bullies will try to make fun of these comments but - as usual with most of my PSA posts - facts are facts, do with them what you like but they are still facts.

thank you for facts.

i dont need fog lights and last I checked the NHTSA doesnt force any maker to include them. they are optional.

so i use mine as driving lights.

NOW DOES ANYONE HAVE A BROKEN ONE THAT I MAY PURCHASE?

I'm not sure if the 09/10 housing is the same as the surround is different, but there are two TSXs sitting in that wrecking yard on rt 24 in Colo springs(between I-25 and Garden of the Gods) that only have rear end damage. You should be able to find the yard by calling the Acura dealer in C Springs - it is just down the street from them.

thanks.

my experience with salvage yards is varied. LOTS will ask mnore than you can buy a part for true retail. they see 200 in a book for a replacement and ask 80% of that. meanwhile there are dealers ALL over giving 30 off list all day for brand new warrantied parts.

but I will give it a try.,

i would really like to find one of that is say damaged lens for cheap so i can see if the projector will fit. more of a tester than a useable part.

I have seen a SET of oem replacements for as lowas 115 a set.

may i ask how you know about the salvage in CS.....do you use car-part.com or have you done an actual driveby or something?

Ceb how do you find good salvage yards? i need some new undercarriage parts, but dealer wants like 300 installed. i can install myself, but i need the actual part. shoot me a PM so we dont clog up the thread please <33

OP, do a search on the forums for broken foglight or cracked foglight lens, and send the posters a message. they may have bought a new lens/housing and retained the old housing, which they may sell to you for cheap as a favor to an acurazine member.

I spent a large chunk of last year there, both at Peterson and Cheyenne. What does a car guy do on weekends when he is a geographic bachelor looking for a new car ? He goes car viewing and that chop shop was just down the street from Automile (or whatever they call that area where all the car dealers are. The wrecking yard is just down the street from Rudy's - a very nice BBQ place.

^ dont know off the top of my head, but the best way to check is using:

http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/home.jsp

look up the assembly for an 09 and compare it to the 2011 assembly part number

For the OP:

Someone already created foglight retro for the TSX, he was a friend of Saucy, and they looked great, he used yellow rx330 lenses (?), and he sold a second set of them on ebay a long time ago

id like to see how this turns out. i had 6000k hid fogs, but i don't feel like it produces as much light as it should.
maybe somehow remove that ring that sits around the bulb. seems to take away from the light reflecting around housing.

Really? It seems to produce an intense amount of light to me, they should produce less even, maybe you need to hook these up to your TSX

As the light temps get colder (kelvin numbers go up) the usable light decreases.

Most people confuse a higher kelvin number with increased usable light output.

Right. What those lights produce is a lot of glare and very little usable light.

Good job for pointing that out!

lets not turn my SEARCH for a fog light to retrofit a projector WITH A CUT OFF LINE into a 'HID or not' bashfest.

thanks.

so can one of you TSX masters tell me is the 09-10 FOG LIGHT the same as 11+? I understand the BEZEL is different but my question is about the FOG LIGHT itself.

It will work, I know for sures! Good luck with your retro. I like the housing look you are going for. I actually just used a fiberglass resin in there. Keep us updated with your progress.

Here are a few pics.

ok. i NEED (2) 2011+ fog lamps.

i dont care about the lens. cracked broken lens OK.

the rest of it needs to be intact.

and these MUST BE 2011+ ....the 9/10 is a different animal.

10+ RDX uses same housing if you have one of those

I will pay a small ransom plus all the shipping.

TIA.
