Just took my TSX V6 to the track

I must say my TSX V6 impressed me at the track tonight. All passes were made in sport mode with traction control off and stock tire pressure. The car is bone stock except for a drop-in K&N and air/exhaust resonator delete. The fastest time out of 3 was 14.4 at 98 mph and the slowest a 14.8 at 96 mph. The air was perfect! Low humidity about 55 degrees. The car kept getting faster each run! Since its a daily driver I was going to leave it stock but now I am determined to make that car see 13's !! All that car needs is some ECU and exhaust tuning. Does anyone know if Hondata, Comptech or somebody plan to make a reflash for the V6?

Good job on your runs!
The TL with the 3.2 and 3.5 engines get the most gains from exhaust mods.
I'm not sure if the V6 TSX has a j-pipe, but if it does I would look into getting a better designed jpipe than stock.
Also, we dont have headers but instead of have pre-cats, we replace these with straight pipes and get an incredible gain.
I'm not familiar with the V6 TSX but if it is similar to the TL type-s 3.5 then you would have no trouble implementing some of our mods.

As far as I know, the exhaust resonator delete doesnt add performance just sound.

Thank you! The TSX will see the same gains because the pre-cat downpipe and j-pipe set up is pretty much the same as a J35 engine TL. The parts for a TL should bolt right up but just to be sure I want part numbers specifically for the TSX V6. As far as the resonator delete, it is mostly for sound but any disruption of air flow will hold back hp. The resonator delete will give some cars a small gains like 1-2hp. It also my way of " trimming fat " off the car. A little here a little there.

You replace the resonators with straight pipe. Resonators are the mid section mufflers after the catalytic converter and before the 2 rear main mufflers under your back bumper. The TSX V6 sounds more like a G35 with out resonators and sounds good. On the other hand I also owned a 05 TSX K24 4 cyl (which is your engine) and the resonator delete made that buzzy sound so I would not recommend that mod.

So Im sure you know and read about Inaccurates TL on a diet?
If you could implement some of the same weight savings, you def shave off some time!

Thank you! I plan to get that same J pipe. And boy do I know what weight reduction can do! I shaved about 150 LBS off my 05 TSX added bolt ons, reflash and some tranny work that had that car in the mid to high 14 sec 1/4 mile range.

Thanks! Good read! But for now warranty-wise I will not be stripping my car down like that!
And I want to still enjoy what little Acura is left in that Honda.

Considering how torquey the V6 is the stock tires did a decent job overall after I did a 3 sec burnout to get the rocks /water off them. The track groove was pretty sticky with all the rubber laid down. The minimal wheel spin I had was just enough to help that power curve into VTEC and pull like a Cummins turbo diesel off the line. No worries I definately plan to upgrade the rubber on my stock rims.

You, would think they would do the TL first, since there is a bigger user base.

There are some engine management products available but I'm not to versed in the subject. Might wanna head over to the TL side and check out whats available.

According to this article their test drive of the V6 yielded very similar numbers to yours in the 1/4 mile.

I think its pretty cool when I beat out professional drivers in the same car. I havent seen any articles that have achieved my time.

.
Yes it is nice. Insideline achieved those results at an elevation of 1100+ft. So if it was at sea level you could probably shave a couple tenths off of that time and add 1mph or so. What is the elevation at your track?

The elevation at the track elevation is 98 Ft. So give me the run down on how lower or higher sea levels effect the performance of a car. I have heard that before but never actually researched the topic.

Higher elevations...the air starts to become less dense...so the car has to work harder to breathe...therefore loses some power.

Coffee fingers explained it pretty well. The closer to sea level the more dense the air is. Temperature, humidity and air pressure also play a major roll. There is a D/A (density altitude Calculator) on dragtimes.com. You basically plug in your air temp, elevation, humidity, air pressure and it will give your density altitude. Here in tucson where I run the track elevation is 3075ft. Ususally the density altitude here is between 4300ft and 6600ft. Your TSX V6 would be running 15.3@92MPH here in tucson with a D/A of 4500ft compared to your 14.4@98MPH. That is how drastic of a change you can get just from your D/A conditions.
