Interesting Feature
Interesting Feature
I was reading about the TSX feature set on the Acura site and ran across this interesting tidbit I didn't know:
"If the remote is inside the trunk, you cannot accidentally lock the trunk."
So how's this work? I'm thinking there's an antenna/receiver in the trunk area and it works by detecting the greater signal strength due to close proximity. Anybody know for sure? I haven't tried it out yet but it sounds like an excuse for a science project.

I tested this by opening the window in my car. Closed the doors. Opened the trunk using the key fob. Put keys in trunk. Reached in open window and locked the doors with the switch on the door. All doors locked and trunk was locked too. Acura lies.

no i recall reading that in the actual manual when i first got the car. i don't remember though, does our car have an autolocking feature? i know if you unlock it and then dont open a door or something within 30-90 seconds depending on your settings, it locks the car. but i mean if you park and forget to lock it, does it autolock.
i think this feature might be not as advanced as you think. i'll try it later. for instance lets say your car was locked, you approach it and open the trunk from the fob, drop your keys in, then close the trunk. the car is locked so you should be unable to reopen the trunk, but with this feature you can. the other logical thing is, you cant lock the car using your keyfob if your keyfob is in the trunk
what you guys are trying is actually locking the car using the button when the key is in the trunk, and i doubt any sensor will override that, for safety purposes.
i'll test this in an hour when i go down to the car and report back later

Uh huh, stop the engine, pop the trunk, get out of the car, lock it by keyfob, walk to the back to lift up the trunk, accidentally drop whole keyset inside, lower the trunk, close it ............... then start swearing or even cry.
I've never heard of this kind of interesting feature on any car, maybe there is but I don't know.

I left my key in the trunk a few weeks ago in a fancy country club parking lot, and I wasn't able to get any doors - including the trunk - open. So I had to call AAA, who was able to break into the car with no damage whatsoever. But the alarm horn went off for a good 20 seconds, which really pissed off the members. Not that I frequent the joint, but I'm pretty sure I won't be invited back there any time soon...

The TSX owner's manual says you can't lock the key in the trunk, I remember reading that and thinking I would place my key in the trunk to test it, but never have done that yet. I guess they're wrong lol
