Insurance Quote ?
Hey,
So, I am looking to buy a 2010 TSX non navi. I called my insurance company (Esurance) for a quote who I have been with for almost 9 years. They quoted me at $910 for 6 months. I then called Geico and for even better coverage and the same deductible they quoted me at $315 for 6 months. I provided the VIN to both companies as well... Something just does not sound right. Any thoughts?

hey Justin!
what doesnt make sense?
you went insurance shopping and found a better deal.
good job!
now call up E-surance and say you're closing your coverage with them and are moving on to a different company.
if E-surance wants your business, they'll drop your rates.

It's actually not surprising. on my 2010 TSX I had it insured for 25/50/10 full coverage and $1000 deductible $276 for 6 months from Progressive. I do have multiple car discount though. My other car which is more expensive at $356 for 6 months same coverage. I have a clean record and been licensed for 17 years. And I live in a highly urban area. I say take the Geico quote.

Except for this post, what's missing from this thread is the most important point. Yes, there is competition, but like real estate, car insurance prices are all about location, location, location. Comparisons with other posters here (unless they happen to live in the same neighborhood)(never mind state, or even city or town) are meaningless, much like the valueless "out the door price" queries. I can't help but think that there is something wrong with this deal. Insurance companies are the real sharks of the money traders, and if esurance can demand $915 for 6 months of coverage at Anytown USA, you can rest assured that other insurance company writing polices in Anytown USA will be close. Cheaper? Maybe. One third the price? Um... if they are, it's likely they won't be in business long. My guess might be that the esurance quote is for a year (I've never been quoted an insurance premium for 6 months of coverage, though it sounds like it's common in some areas). I too would suggest calling around and compare. If it does turn out to be a real deal, my only comment would be to remember the old adage (cliché, but true) "you get what you pay for". Those of you who have yet to discover this, will, and probably in an unpleasant fashion.

We just sold our house and moved two miles down the way. Same zip code, same type of house, same garages but our car insurance went down by $40 for 6 months. The only difference that I can tell is that the old place had sidewalks and the new place doesn't.
