Installing wheel locks
Installing wheel locks
ok so I just bought my wheel locks(Acura OEM), and I am confused with the installation process. One friend is telling me I need a jack to install wheel locks, while another says I could do it without one. Now am I overreacting or is the whole procedure as easy as taking one lug off and replacing it with the anti-theft lug?
No jack required. Just take off one lug nut and replace it with the locking one. The remaining 4 lugs will still hold the wheel on the car just fine during the install.
The 80-ft-lb is the amount of torque you're supposed to put on them. No offense, but if you had to ask these questions I'm assuming you don't have a torque wrench. No big deal, just torque them on good with a standard socket wrench and you'll be fine.

Firstly, welcome to the forum.
Torque is a measure of the turning force on an object such as a bolt or a flywheel. It's the amount of pressure/force pushing or pulling the handle of a wrench connected to a nut or bolt produces a torque (turning force) that loosens or tightens the nut or bolt.
If you don't have a torque wrench, just tighten the nut with a good socket wrench like Derwood mentioned above.
